An interesting tidbit: this is has already been partly implemented. I've had a few occasions where the upload of a WU has frozen (probably because of the bittorrent traffic) and FAH is just sitting there for hours doing nothing. When I restart FAH then it downloads a new WU, starts processing and only then uploads the completed WU in parallel. So the client is perfectly capable of doing two things simultaneously.

I agree that lot of folding time is wasted waiting for the upload of previous WU to finish. Majority of the donors probably have DSL or Cable where download is 8+ times faster than upload. Furthermore, a new WU is usually 2+ times smaller than the completed WU. So downloading a new WU first would not add considerable delay before the finished WU reaches the servers.
