Like your new banner also, but I would suggest that perhaps it also suffers from the same problem as the current logo: the blue molecules are so dark, they're hard to distinguish from the black background. How about turquoise? ;-) Love the magenta!
Thanks! When I tried lighter molecules it seemed to have a hard time contrasting with the words. So I had to make it dark. Maybe I can play with it a bit more and see. What is "Flash"? You mean like Adobe Flash? A moving one? I thought about that too, but I have no clue how to do that. haha. Besides, I don't have a 3D molecule to play with.

Nothing that fancy. I just meant that I like bright colors. I can't even do what you're doing, so moving molecules is way beyond me. ;-)

Maybe lighten the background and change the white words to yellow? Or is that too headache inducing?

Here's a before and after shot. I darkened the yellow so it's not too "headache inducing". It makes it stand out less. How's that?

I don't like the tiling effect nor do I like the wording (especially the first line).

You're getting warmer! ;-) Now the red at the bottom seems to glare too much, but I like the other color combos. If there's a chance this might be used seriously, I'd be happy to start word smithing a bit. Well, I'll do it anyway, but I don't want to suck up your time unless you're having fun too. :D
How about changing the first sentence to an imperative: "Make Your Unused Processor Power Help...." ?

The other line that I'm not sure about, but haven't come up with a suggestion yet, is "Wipe Out Diseases Forever." The two things that I'm looking at is it destroys the symmetry of two word units (cure cancer, treat Alzheimer's, etc.) and perhaps it's a bit of hyperbole. On the other hand, it is a good catch all for all the other projects.

Nice improvement. Helix is now identifiable.

The banner in my opinion is way too busy and still doesn't define F@H clearly.

...Ferrari's logo was adopted when the company only built race cars and was called Scuderia Ferrari which translates to "Ferrari Stable", but the Prancing Horse to me = Horsepower ;)

I think that's the problem actually. Although I realize that the "Folding” concept is the heart of the science, I feel it’s really irrelevant to most potential “customers”. I know it invokes some pride in the people who work on it as well as people who understand what it is all about, hence it conjures some familiar imagery, but “Folding” is just not an everyday concept if it doesn’t involve clothes. I feel that the purpose is to capture the interest via well shared values and principles that it easy to relate to…then tell them what “Folding” is about when they click on the ad and go to the site itself.

Furthermore, it’s not the act, but the end-result that really counts. For example, if there was a distributed computing effort that involved antigen binding and you see a “Binding@Home”. What the heck does that mean? You don’t really know right off hand and unless you know biology and/or of the effort itself, you will not make that relation enough to capture your immediate interest.

Also imagine this…Most people in this world are more comfortable telling their friends…”I downloaded this app that runs in the background that helps cure cancer…” versus…”I downloaded this app that folds proteins. You see, based on the hydrophobic and hydrophilic nature of the…blah blah blah…”

To much clutter. Looks like a 5yr old made it as well. Sorry.

Oh and way to much pink.

+1 and, with this latest version, the tiling effect is even more pronounced and totally fails.

What tilting effect? The molecule? I thought you were talking about the italics. heh. The molecule is from the folding page actually. Just image processed.

T-I-L-I-N-G - not TILT-ing, sheesh. Don't know much about graphics design, eh?

I chose pink because it not only stand out, but because it may attract females. Females statistically are more likely to engage in activities that help people.

Oh I see. Damn you actually noticed that? No I'm not a graphic designer. I just coppied that image off the folding page.

Maybe your theory about the pink appealing to women is correct! I liked it, but then it has bright colors [and I think the green is a good replacement for the red]. However, I have zero graphics skills, so I'll defer to those with more expertise. [And I'm glad you got the tiling reference, because I don't have a clue.]

OK and since no one else is volunteering on how to unclutter...Maybe have the first sentence say, "Your Unused Processor Power Can Help..."
then just one phrase in the middle [pink or otherwise :ewink: ] Eradicate Disease

Then leave the bottom alone. I like that the first sentence and the url are in the same color, but the way I've been batting, maybe that's the kiss of death. :ewink:
