Is there a reason you can't just leave the computer running 24/7? If the monitor is off or in Standby, power usage decreases significantly...

My HDD is not in a very good condition. It might go down anytime by now and I don't have enough money to buy a new one. I thought I will stop folding until I get a new system, but as long as everything under strict observation I guess it won't hurt much.
