I know it's only an hour or so after this.. But still no points on last update. Are we certain this is taken care of?yslin wrote:Sorry and thanks for the reports. The issue should be resolved by now.

Points are now being credited again, latest update shows:
However, I have lost 10k points from 8 WU's. yslin's response indicates they have had the WU results but will not be able to re-credit the lost points.
I have just been credited with 3 p6806 WUs, total 4044 points added.Date of last work unit 2010-12-15 11:04:37

Just check my stats page, I've seen an increase of a couple thousand points. So at least some of my recent WU's are being credited. I'm still having probelms connecting to this server though.

There will be intermittent outages of all sorts this week and only some of them can be fixed promptly. See http://folding.typepad.com/

Mine have returned after zero's for 4 updates, but no credits for lost units.
Re: 171.64.65.64 GPU3 points gone missing
Same issue here. Lost 6-7 WU today, but seems to be up and running again. Pity those WU cannot be utilized. Small leak on a big ship like this.
Re: 171.64.65.64 GPU3 points gone missing
That's a real shame - I've lost 3,894 points today and another 2,596 two weeks ago with something very similar' ie units completing and being upoladed successfully but no points credited. Good news for Stanford medical research but not for me.yslin wrote:Unfortunately we have lost the records for credits so re-crediting in this case is not possible. Really sorry.
Re: 171.64.65.64 GPU3 points gone missing
Thats fine and understood but presumably Stanford have arrangements that points get credited later once servers back up and syncronised or whatever they do. This must be something else and is a bit disappointing that its now happened twice in 2 weeks.codysluder wrote:There will be intermittent outages of all sorts this week and only some of them can be fixed promptly. would like to see an answer to this question is it fixed or not, I don't want to waste my energy bill for Wu's that I don't get credit for so as of now I have shut the gpu3 client down till someone can say if it is fixed or not.SpeedyVV wrote:Should we stop the GPU3 clients for now until the situation is resolved, or are things back to normal again?

It's OK. The science is the thing, more than points. As long as the work was completed and received, the credit isn't as important.yslin wrote:Unfortunately we have lost the records for credits so re-crediting in this case is not possible. Really sorry.
Looks like I did about eight WUs during the "brownout." I'm just glad the data went somewhere!

That's what it's all about, the science, that's why I fold. I must admit that I like the points, but I fold because Alzheimer's and cancer run in my family, I want my grand kids to have a cure. It's OK. The science is the thing, more than points. As long as the work was completed and received, the credit isn't as important.

I'm really sorry about this. If something like this happens, we investigate what's going on and see how we could avoid it in the future. This one happened due to a combination of human error and software failsafes not working. The failsafes really should have kicked in and we're working on revisions to the v6 WS code to handle this sort of thing in the future. (The WS would terminate if it hits some situation where the points aren't being recorded and then the CS would kick in.)

I lost points yesterday afternoon and last night. Did this fault play up again last night as I've lost more credits. That's 3 times in 2 weeks now. If it carries on like this I'm just going to stop folding.

That one is news to me and probably not the same issue. Could you give some more details (which project, which server, etc)? We're a bit overloaded today with the server room issues, but we'll look into it shortly thereafter.cdb wrote:I lost points yesterday afternoon and last night. Also note that the stats update will run a lot slower during the outage, so it may just need time.
