just to update. I have now clocked up to 3.6 ghz and yes ht is on and now doing 3 minutes 10 seconds average per frame getting 15k ppd a day

OP, I'm assuming you're using something like hfm.net or a bonus calculator to figure out your A3 PPD? Otherwise you're only looking at base PPD, which is hardly representative of the actual points attained.

LinSMP or WinSMP?

That sounds about right. It varies per WU, but I'm getting ~2:55/frame on A3 cores w/ my i7-920 @ 4GHz. That's when I can get A3 WUs anyway. I've pulled a couple P2653 (no bonuses) the last couple of days too.
