on one machine, most of the others are the same as the rest of you guys.

7im's post at top of this page so yes it is stanford
Yes, there's little doubt it's at Stanford, I'm just speculating as to the exact nature of the problem. :D

I'm not so sure that it's network related, hence that last statement.

All five of my clients that currently can not get work ('No appropriate work server was available') were able to contact their respective work server and return their results on the first try. Additionally, I can ping each of these work servers directly (OK). Thus, the work servers are readily accessible (online).

All five of my out of work clients are able to reach the assignment server (AS), and I can ping them directly as well (OK). Thus the AS is also readily accessible/online.

It would seem there are work servers available but my clients are not being assigned to them. Now I have no idea how Stanford's network is set up, but if both the AS and work servers are online and readily accessible, it makes me think the problem could be with the AS itself.

Perhaps it's gone off chasing a Great Red Oystrich and needs to be gently drop-kicked back to reality.

I have 4 linux boxes out of work , and a string of them almost finished with their WU. I'm about ready to pull the plug on the whole lot.
Patiently awaiting some response from Stanford ...

Are we sure that Stanford's servers haven't been hacked, I say this because of the strange messages we are getting when the work unit starts, or is this somebody @ Stanford having fun saying Gromacs? I hope it is the latter...
Oh & seven machines out of action here, coupled with the heat & huge power bills we are getting in Oz atm, this may be the excuse I need to shut the farm down for a while..

Well I guess that is something, just coming back from 4 weeks holiday & I see these fun messages which coincide with network issues.
I guess it is bedtime now for Stanford so maybe no fix until their morning :(

I have a whole bunch of Linux SMP folders just spinning their wheels right now. I hope this is not a major problem but maybe a little blurb in the forums or on typepad, http://folding.typepad.com/ might let us know a little more?

Thanks,

BrokenWolf

We reset some things at Stanford. Should be better now. Thanks for the heads up.

I must be the only one left that assign-GPU.stanford.edu:8080 refuses to talk to.

Have 2 clients driving 9800GTX+'s that are still getting No appropriate work server errors
as of 08:30 local california time, it's weird since there are 5 other gpu clients going through the same router
that are running smooth as silk. I'm confused?

Everything looks OK this morning, a cool(ish) 18C here this morning on the way to 30C in the nations capital. Farm is operational & crunching.

Thx for the reset Vijay.
