What is your system specs? It'll determine how long it'll take.

I've never worked a 3863, so I can't tell you how long it should be.
I'm sorry, but I don't know English so good and I don't know the meaning of 'sysem specs', can You explain it to me, so I'll reply to you more specifically.Do You mean the power of my pc or the model?I have a lap top (Compaq mini 110 c-60 GB- Intel atom N270-ram 1GB, HDD 160 GB)
This contains your system specifications (specs). Folding on a netbook will be rather slow.
Now my Fah did 24 of 300(i suppose that 300 is one unit,am I right?)
The number of steps will vary between the different WU's. Normall we talk about % or time to complete 1%.

You may need to change your configuration to get WUs with a longer deadline to ensure you have plenty of time to finish them.

My username is Aleksandra_Joanna, but when I ceck the list of the members of my boyfrien's team, my name is not on that list, why?
The reason is because you have not completed your first work unit yet. You will not show up until you do.
And my progress is not shown in the user progress list, why?

How can I do to run folding program as the same time as I start the laptop ?
Place a copy of Folding@home in your Start, All Programs, Startup folder.
Aleksandra_Joanna wrote:I don't know how to paste the shortcut to my startup folder
With the mouse of pointer over Folding@home in the menu, right click to get another menu, select Copy. Next find the Startup folder, right click on it and select Open, when the window opens right click and select Paste. That should do it.
Aleksandra_Joanna wrote:Now my Fah did 24 of 300(i suppose that 300 is one unit,am I right?)
Now I am confused, do you your WU (Work Unit) has 300000 steps. Based on your log on 21 Oct you had "Completed 14127 out of 300000 steps (4%)".
Now I saw that without viewing everything goes more faster.
That is great!
I'll wait to finish 1 unit and then I'll check if my name is between the members of my team.
Yes, once your WU is finished the result will be sent to Standford and your will see your name appear. Note that it may take several hours to show after your first WU is sent.
When my sister joined my boyfriend's team (folding boys 83033) her name appeared between the team members since she did her first %, that's why I was wondering why I'm not in the list of members.
The only time a WU is recorded is when finished. More than likely your sister got a fast WU or has a faster system and that WU finished quickly. Some of the WU's take longer to run than others.

One thing I noticed in your log is the amount of time Folding@home is running. Not very much. Only a few hours a day, this will make the process longer. Adding Folding@home to Startup will improve on that. Here is a copy of your log that I added comments to help show what is going on, I removed a lot of the lines to hopefully give you a basic understanding of what is going on. My comments start with #. Hope it is helpful :)

Yes, you have to wait for your first unit and then a few more hours.

Fah Completed 39000 out of 300000 steps (13%)!
Now I understood everything. My sister has got a normal pc, not a netbook, maybe that's why she finished her 1 unit faster.
I also understood how to put the Fah shortcut to my startup folder, so now I don't have to remember to start folding everytime I start my netbook.
Thanks for everything,
Aleksandra.

That's my new fahlog, don't you think that it's very strange that I haven't finished 1 unit yet?
I opened my pc everyday for a couple of hours per day since my last post to you.How can be that I am only at 49%?

because it takes your computer about an 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete one percent, therefore, if you're only leaving it on for a couple of hours a day, it'll only be completing a few % a day. At that rate I kinda doubt you will be able to complete work units, unless you leave it running (and plugged in obviously) 24/7.

One thing you should be aware of is that the Atom is not a very powerful CPU and computation intensive folding isn't really it's field of strength.

Unless you want to change toward leaving the netbook on 24/7 I would probably think that folding isn't going to be successful on such a machine.

Yha, unfortunately netbooks are slow for folding.

As said above, 4hrs aday is 2% tops. 20days at 2 is 40%

Truthfully, i don't think you're going to finish the unit.
