Re: Missing Points?
hi DanGe and bruce. firstly, thanks for the replies.
as far as configuration goes i think i shall leave it till i have a little more time and try reconfiguring, double checking that it's told to use both processors.
i include below a copy of the relevant details from my FAH log file. it's not a major point because doing the work is the important thing, but, well you know - it's personal satisfaction isn't it. and if there were no stats at all i think we'd probably still do it wouldn't we?
but anyway, here's my info:
User name: y (Team 45104)
Project: 4440 (Run 497, Clone 1, Gen 18)
Project: 4443 (Run 952, Clone 1, Gen 20)
Project: 4438 (Run 681, Clone 2, Gen 15)
Project: 4458 (Run 482, Clone 2, Gen 20)
Project: 4441 (Run 331, Clone 0, Gen 25) (currently in progress but first part as 'y' second as capnthommo}
according to my log file these are all going to the correct team, team member and user id but at the moment i can't check what the wu that is logged on stats is as Stanford is currently updating data.
one small point, my system monitor shows more than one instance of FAH although all but one are 'sleeping' i wonder if it would be safe to kill the dormant ones or whether it would be better to leave well alone. they are listed below
proc name status %CPU memory waiting channel
FAH6 sleeping 0 156.0 KiB hrtimer_nanosleep
FahCore_78.exe sleeping 0 10.0 MiB hrtimer_nanosleep
FahCore_78.exe running 50 10.0 MiB 0
FahCore_78.exe sleeping 0 10.0 MiB do_poll
FahCore_78.exe sleeping 0 10.0 MiB hrtimer_nanosleep
i don't want to kill any process that might be needed but only intermittently and so doesn't show any activity when i look.
thanks again for the help though.
cheers

Re: Missing Points?
That's normal. Do not kill any of the threads. FAH has one thread that works very hard plus several that sleep almost all the time. You can see all of them with the standard Linux utilities but the standard Windows utility only shows one.

Re: Missing Points?
hi
first, thanks to you gwildperson, i thought that might be the case.
anyhow, i have been doing a little checking and think i have the answer to my earlier post about my (maybe) missing w.u.s
i checked my config file and i think when i added my passkey i managed to screw it up and rename myself as 'y'. i have since rectified this and my Folding.txt file now shows me as
User name: capnthommo (Team 45104)
User ID: 7AEC38964C0C7E7D
which is correct.
however, i still have some other work units under the User name of 'y' - they are detailed again below:
Project: 4440 (Run 497, Clone 1, Gen 18)
Project: 4443 (Run 952, Clone 1, Gen 20)
Project: 4438 (Run 681, Clone 2, Gen 15)
Project: 4458 (Run 482, Clone 2, Gen 20)
Project: 4441 (Run 331, Clone 0, Gen 25) (currently in progress but first part as 'y' and the second as 'capnthommo'
i would be very grateful if a mod could check this for me and if i am correct change the stats so that all the units are credited to capnthommo, team 45104. yes, as i said, it doesn't really matter, and god knows i don't process as fast as some of the people on this but it is kind of satisfying in a small way to see ones units adding up. if you want any more detail from me, please let me know.
thanks very much.

Re: Missing Points?
Sorry.
There is a firm policy that once a WU is uploaded, no changes will be made to the stats associated with it.

Re: Missing Points?
ok bruce, no matter. it was my fault anyway for messing it up to start with. it's ok now, and seems to be going to the right place (afaik).
now if i can only get myself a decently fast machine so i can process a bit quicker.
cheers

Re: Missing Points?
You understand that Project: 4441 (Run 331, Clone 0, Gen 25) will be credited to "y"?
The next one will be credited to your proper name.
Right bruce?

314159: I think you're asking a question about the current WU. If you change the UserName BEFORE the WU is uploaded, the new value will be used. Once the WU is uploaded, it's not going to change.

Re: Missing Points?
Hmm,
You absolutely sure of that? (I am certain that you are but just want to see it in writing)
Current WU was issued to "y".
Queue.dat will reflect issued to "y".
-configonly would not have changed the original data in queue.dat. Only client.cfg would have been modified.
Will not the WS be looking for a return from "y"?
My recollection is that config changes are reflected with the next WU, and I thought (it seems incorrectly) that this included user name.
Our friend changed user name while the current WU was in progress.
Guess that I was wrong. Sorry!

Re: Missing Points?
hi folks
i actually stopped the process whilst i made the config corrections and when i restarted, the Folding.txt file showed the charge at the start.
but i'm not worried - the points will go to the team (45104) anyway and this will teach me to be more careful in future.
as i wrote above, the doing of the work is the important thing - the points etc is just a fun diversion as far as i'm concerned.
thanks for the help though.
i'll leave this now for people who might have more serious issues.
cheers

Re: Missing Points?
When the server issues and receives the WU, it looks at User ID, which is unique to each machine. The client attaches the username and team number after the WU finishes.314159 wrote:Hmm,
