By the way, today FAH has reached the highest total TFLOPs ever: 2766, and it looks like that in the next few days, thanks to GPUs, it could rise to much higher values.

I would say that reaching 100pflops by 2015 is a very real goal, based on the way GPU clients are going, it's really really fantastic to see. Merely boosting AMD clients by 20-30% in terms of PPD should bring a lot more folks on those clients.

bowman wrote:What's interesting is that the average GFLOPS/GPU is about the same for NVIDIA and ATI, slightly higher for ATI even. This clashes head-on with the points discrepancy between the two. What's going on?
I have 5 nVidia GPUs, each of which is only contributing a few days per week. So this brings down the Gflops/GPU quite a lot. Not sure how many of the total GPUs contribute only part time. The promotion of the folding client by nVidia in the PhysX package may have added a lot of short time contributors as well (install, try out, uninstall....)

But you are right: The ATI numbers seem a bit too optimistic in comparison.

Is there any archive of the OS Stats for before 10th April 2008?
I was wondering because i'm very much interested in attaining my team's WU count / points stats for about a 5 month period (i started the team, and then later decided to take daily stats recordings, been doing it ever since, have over a years worth of daily reportings, and its resultant graph looks crappy without seeing the nice quick drop in team position over the first couple of months of the teams existence.)

Wow! Are these numbers legit or are there still problems due to the recent split of GPU stats between ATI and NVIDIA?

I'm afraid not. OS Stats archiving is on a voluntary basis. I started myself on June and got the rest of the data from another user.

I think they are real, a lot of new Nvidia GPUs online because of the power pack :)

ATI GPUs are increasing quickly too (+13.69% activity increase since August 16).

GPU Combined (Nvidia+ATI) stats since the split:

Code: Select all

Columns: [Date/hour] [TFLOPS] [Active CPUs] [Total CPUs] [TFLOPS Increase] [Activity Increase]

2008/08/14 22:02:00 1151	10461	19359
2008/08/15 06:04:09 1211	11010	19908	+5.21%	+5.25%
2008/08/16 06:04:22 1363	12390	21288	+12.55%	+12.53%
2008/08/18 03:34:44 1556	14146	23044	+14.16%	+14.17%

3 PFLOPs barrier passed! (and still quickly increasing!)

Although 3 Petaflops was going to be broken soon anyway, are you sure this is a 'legit' 3 Petaflops? I mean concerning the Stats update server was down, now that its back up, all work units are flooding in, causing a spike?

It was 3082 PFLOPs on 2008/08/19 23:09:05 and became 3102 on 2008/08/20 06:04:43, I guess it is.

Stats "update spikes" in past have taken a few days to resolve, as the moving average covers several days (varies between client), but we are holding above 3 PFLOPS.

Let's double output and then double it again just to be sure, then we can start aiming for some serious folding power.

Put the TFLOPs on the right side of the graph please. I have to scroll to see the entire graph. Bolder lines for the Ati/nVidia plot would help these old eyes also.

"Very Interesting"

The graph was made to fit completely on my 22" wide screen.
I've made another one with width limited to 1024 pixels, so it should fit on most monitors, and adjusted some other settings for less stress on the eyes.

Too bad that the OS stats page recently doesn't seem to be updated as often as it used to be (from once a day to once every two days).

1st September update
TFLOPs didn't grow as I hoped, but they should reach new records soon.
