F@H on GPU - Help

Post by Incognito »

I was wondering since my CPU client is fairly slow, can a GMA 4500MHD graphics card process F@H since I never found it written down as one of the possible graphics card that can use it. If it does work could someone please tell me PPD it would give me and would it be any faster than what I am currently running, a 2.40 GHz?

Thanks in advance,

Hello Incognito, welcome to the folding support forum.

Reading the GPU2 FAQs on the project web site, the requirements state the GPU must be one of the supported models made by ATI or nVidia. The GMA hardware is an Intel graphics device. Sorry, no go. You could probably upgrade to a new video card and fold that way. GPUs get much higher points as they fold much faster (~10x).

Ah, damn. Thanks dude, but would Intel support ATI or nVidia if it's just come with an GMA model? Also, I know they fold much faster which is why I wanted to switch to it. =\

Video on the motherboard can typically be disabled in the BIOS to allow an add-in video card to take over.
