PNY F@H Contest - Free Prizes

Post by swiftyy »

Update: The F@H contest has officially started and will run from March 4, 2009 till March 31, 2009.

You can signup for the contest at:
http://portal.xlr8gaming.net/?page=folding

Hi Everyone,

PNY is working with Dr. Pande to host a F@H contest to promote the benefits that F@H has on the scientific community. There are many prizes to be won for those who participate, and the good thing is that you don't even have to switch teams. Right now the contest is about to start, pending a few things that still need to be sorted out with Stanford. You can find out more, and register at:

http://portal.xlr8gaming.net/

Cheers

Currently only for residents of the U.S. to participate in.

They are also giving away FREE 3dmark Vantage keys. You can sign up for the contest once you register. The random drawing for the GTX280 at the end of the contest has been changed to a GTX285 instead :D

Can I be the first to say 'damnit not again and not here on this forum as well....'

Comeon PG/VP, we're an international group of donors, make sure any initiative like this represents our diversity. This is REALLY dissapointing to me and I bet allot of other EU/non USA donors.

I'm sorry about those details, but I don't get to choose those rules. As I understand it, It is a matter of these restrictions or no prizes at all. I think everyone would agree that every bit helps and this will definitely help generate interest in FAH, albeit with these restrictions.

Well, it pisses me off that I have to go to UK or Ireland to get a good beer and properly cooked food. :P

Unfortunately it has to do with legal restrictions thats why PNY is keeping it US only. Like Dr. Pande stated every little bit helps. I tried talking to PNY about making it open to everyone but that would be a legal nightmare trying to coordinate prizes shipped to the world. Promoting more people to fold will definitely help the cause.

However there are ways around getting a free 3dmark vantage keys

I hope they'll organize contests for other countries ... limiting participation in a contest related to such a worldwide project sounds terribly stupid and frustrating to me.

This is no good. I see many Netherland, France, UK and many-many devoted folders here, donating their time and effort....

Not to mention Estonian :D

I'm hoping one of the venders I contacted will be interested in a global contest as I will feel pretty much cornerd if they come back and offer to hold an EU only ( as that would make me the one who started a contest which also excludes allot of (VS/Asia) donors ).

I'm aware that logistics are also an issue, but I contacted international vendors which I think already have distribution centers in each part of the world hoping that might help with them being interested in a global event.

Unfortunately, there is one huge reason why that restriction is in place, and it is a world-wide reason:
