Signing in failed on multiple devices.

Post by EdgeArcher »

I have tried to login to FAHClient on multiple devices, but met the same error:

Code: Select all

Loading Work Unit logged credits failed
API error: TypeError: NetworkError when attempting to fetch resource.

Signing in failed
API error: TypeError: NetworkError when attempting to fetch resource.
All network settings were correct, Is there any other issue waiting to be solved?

(Not an native English speaker, if there's any problem blocks understanding, please notify me, thanks!!!

We need more info. What type of connection you are using, and are 100% certain you are not dropping packets. We are not aware of any server issues. Make sure you don't have some overly paranoid firewalls set up, or browser.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
I'm using Wi-Fi, no dropping packets since several random tests of 16 pings to "v8-5.foldingathome.org" didn't drop packets. and all firewall settings are remaining default.

Default software firewalls are evil.

As the saying. I tried to allow the browser and "FAHClient.exe" and "HideConsole.exe" pass the firewall. but the problem still exists.
(FAHClient didn't ask for the privilege to pass the firewall)

What browser are you using and which country are you folding from? Do you use VPNs?

It might be your ISP. I have not heard of any issues with log ins.
Worth checking your router logs to see if things are being blocked.
Does the sign in page itself shows you any errors?

Sorry for the inconvenience, no errors were reported by the sign in page.
It might really blame to my ISP, since I used to log in successfully on all my devices orz

Your issue should be fixed now. It was something with login API. Clear the browser cache a d try again if issue persists.

Sorry, I tried the solution a few times, but the issue still exists with some logs which are possibly related to the problem:

Code: Select all

15:01:00:W :CON2:DNS lookup failed for api.foldingathome.org
15:01:00:W :Failed to update GPUs
btw another issue along with this one is "Getting project causes failed", with the same "API error......" error message.

Appreciated for the work.

DNS issue is not related to your earlier problems. To sort out DNS stuff you probably need to play around with your DNS servers. You usually are allowed to enter 2 DNS servers in your connection settings in windows. I would advise you to try one of them from google and another from cloudflare. I believe google one will punch you through this.
And since you are on wi fi, try restarting the client. Sometimes when pc starts client starts up quicker than wi fi can fully initialise

Stop the client, delete gpus.json file and then restart the client.

And make sure that the client is started after you are connected to the Internet.
