Oops. How do I get started again?
I have a decent PC with a good graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti). FAH was working for me, then something froze and I tried to fix it - and failed. Now when I start FAH I get a "No work" message. I've tried reinstalling FAH with full restarts and it made no difference.
I run Windows 11 and keep it up to date.
Note that I run this both on a laptop (working fine) and a Desktop (not currently working). I'm on v8.5.5 on both machines. My username (listed below) is john27rg. I suspect that when I tried "fixing" things I stuffed up the workunit record or something and need someone who knows what they're doing to reset it.
My apologies for the hassle.

Disable the Intel iGPU in Webclient (untick it).

No joy. And it wasn't enabled anyway.

If there's a way to copy in a snippet image in this editor it is escaping me...
[i"m"g]"C:\Users\john2\Downloads\jrg.png"[/i"m"g] isn't working (I put the double quotes around both "m"s so you can see what I'm trying.)
I did notice that I had "While on battery" enabled for my desktop, which makes no sense. So I disabled that, quit FAH and restarted my machine, restarted FAH, but no joy yet.

Images need to be hosted on an external site, this forum does not have local storage of images enabled for bandwidth reasons.CapeJohn31 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 01, 2026 12:24 am If there's a way to copy in a snippet image in this editor it is escaping me...
That option can be useful for a desktop system plugged into an UPS and also connected to it by USB cord. If power goes out, then folding pauses.CapeJohn31 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 01, 2026 12:24 am I did notice that I had "While on battery" enabled for my desktop, which makes no sense.

Ok, I've put a couple of images up on this site: https://www.john27rg.com/scratch

Re: Oops. How do I get started again?
That's normal. You have some obsolete v7 options that are ignored except for the warning.

Try installing 8.4.9, make sure the iGPU is not selected, reinstall 8.5.5. Should not need to uninstall.

Seems to be a new bug to characterize and add to github issues.

Had this issue too. Can confirm the fix above works. Appears to be the new client how just shows "unsupported" for iGPUs instead of providing a checkbox. If that checkbox wasn't unselected before upgrade, this issue occurs.

The dev answered to my request to have a look at this topic :
jcoffland wrote:[3:04 PM]
It would be better if someone created a GitHub issue for this kind of thing. However, I figured it out and it will be fixed in the next release. The problem is that the client is waiting for the enabled GPU to come online but it never comes online because it was blacklisted. Same problem could happen if someone removed a GPU from their system.

The changelog for unreleased 8.5.7 has:
- Don't wait for previously enabled GPUs if they are no longer valid.
- Don't wait for previously enabled GPUs if they are no longer valid.
