Night mode and dark mode

Post by Stoya26 »

Hi there,

Can you please bring back the night and dark mode switch on the main page like there was in 8.3.3 I think it is?

I change between each depending on sunrise and sunset and its kinda annoying to go deep into the settings to change it everytime. Or maybe a feature so its automatic and follows windows settings?

Best,
Jasper

I don't remember a dark mode in official Webclient ... are you sure that you're not mixing with 3rd party Webclient from Lars ?

For feature suggestions, please use Github, the dev doesn't read these forums : https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-we ... tet/issues

Sorry, there's already a Dark Mode.

It's here : https://v8-5.foldingathome.org/account/appearance (you might have to login to your account first).

They are asking that it be made automatic or an easily accessed switch again, rather than buried in account settings.

Once you set it in your settings, dark mode will persist on every PC.

As I read it, the point is that they want to change the theme frequently as long as it is not auto, and digging into the settings all the time is tedious. Hence their suggestion to make it automatic, depending on the system preferences.

It would be nice to extend the web client with something like, with radio buttons:
Theme: o light o dark o auto

It's not that difficult to get the system prefs from the .vue file (did just that yesterday on a test system because of this thread). The only problem is saving the setting in the account - that needs a change on the backend rather than just the web client.

It's worth making a git request for :)

I think there is also a request that appearance settings be stored with browser database, not the account.

Web client cannot block dark mode on one browser and not the other.
Ask Google why they are ignoring your choice of mode on the website?
I never had issues with dark mode once I logged into my account on variety of browsers.
I did not check with chrome, since I don't use that spyware anymore

1st of all, FAH client is browser agnostic, it is built to comply with usual browser rules. If the browser is broken, it is not FAHclient's fault
2nd of all, while I am not using chrome right now, I did test fahclient on more browser's than you probably ever heard
3rd of all, even if I did not test it on Chrome in particular, there a lot of people who did. There are also a lot of current users who are using chrome with the same client version, and I am yet to see any reports from anyone except you, that dark mode has issues.

You claim that web UI of the client is somehow blocking Chrome from applying dark mode. I think it should be other way round, that's why I suggested to ask Google why their browser is blocking fahclient going dark, since client uses chrome to show you the controls, not other way round.

Lastly, check the definition of an internet troll, before asking questions on internet and telling someone their are trolling you
Bye

Dark mode on v8-5 web control on latest Chrome on macOS 15.7 is working fine for me.
You have to log in on web control.
It seems to then persist even after logout.
Don't clear site data, or it will be light mode again until you log in.
