I can't for the life of me find out where to add the -advmethods flag. What exactly do I have to do?

Vince,

It looks like you are getting close to exhausting the 45xx project number range. How are we doing? Are we turning these WUs around quickly enough that you are on schedule, or do we need to pick up the pace? Any 4th quarter pep talks from the coach?

To all you -advmethods folders out there, let me say this:

This project is going very well, and the amount of simulation that's getting done is truly tremendous. Here's some info about one of the simulation targets that came online 1 week ago, and now I'm starting to analyze the results:

Code: Select all

project 4591 - total WUs completed: 31208
project 4592 - total WUs completed: 45121
project 4593 - total WUs completed: 62975
Each of these are 5 ns worth of simulation, so that's (31208 + 45121 + 62975)*5 = 696 520 ns, and that's just one of several simulation targets. I don't think there's any other computing resource that could compete with the kind of sampling that we're achieving with this project.

For the most part, the WU returns have been outpacing our expectations. By August this project should be wrapping up, although I don't know for sure (as a third party selects the simulation targets) -- we may have to delve into the 46xx series (which I've reserved, just in case :) )

So for those of you who may be sick of these little AMBER fragments, it's time we test our mettle: It's 1st and goal and the 2:00 warning is just around the corner. Let's get out there on that gridiron, smack that pigskin and let's FOLD SOME PROTEINS!

Vince

p.s. Greg -- I was dragging a bit today, and your post really pepped me up. Thanks.

Are these Amber WUs drying up as I got a "mundane" Gromacs WU? Is this the end of "the Summer of the Bonus"? :(

No it's just that they just released the gromacs-based project 2453 on fragment based approach to drug design.

Hey Vince,

How are we doing with the 45xx units?
Do you expect to run out of them anytime soon?

Just looking for another pep talk from the "coach"
