I wanted to use my computer - emails etc
It's impossible to use my computer at the same time so I stopped it running and closed it.

Thank you - I'm rather astonished that I have to re-install the software every time like this.
In fact this is dreadful - Could this be changed?

If you go into the web panel and select "fold when idle" and save, then it will only fold when you are not using the computer, and it will pause as soon as you start using it again.

Re: How do I start the Folding thing again?
You shouldn't need to reinstall every time. Basically you were given a quick fix that made certain everything was in place to start folding. Instead of completely shutting down the software, the client is designed to idle in the background when not being used. Just Pause folding when you need to, then resume when you are done. Pausing stops the folding cores where the actual processing is done on WUs.
From your description it sounds like you also killed the client process. There should be a shortcut to restart it, but depending on your installation selections it could be hidden or you did not see it.

Re: How do I start the Folding thing again?
use
v8-4.foldingathome.org URL to control your folding efforts.
Pause folding before you want to do something with your computer, unpause when you done using your computer.
Going back to my point of unable to use computer while folding even for emails, you need to reconsider your priorities if that is the case. System might be overheating, etc. Or your system might be misconfigured if FAH is interfering with simple tasks.
