Failed response: CONNECT on my home server

Post by HyperWin »

Hello! I decided to help with some compute power, installed FAH in docker to my main pc, homelab and vps. On main pc everything works fine, even with VPN enabled. On home server I get repeating "failed response: CONNECT" when it tries to download an assignment. On VPS - uhh... Sorry, I'll send it later, or in another post. Anyways, logs of my homelab:

This error is caused by that core count? Sad, I'll probably create some kind of controller to toggle folding on or off on schedule. Though, I changed it from 2 to 4 cores, and the error persists.

Nevermind. Everything works after I restarted the container.

You may need to change the cpu count via web control. After first run, I believe the command line arg is ignored.

Yes, thank you so much, it works now. Are there any solutions for working on schedule?

Also, I got access to my VPS. Logs:

Hmm.
Machine name should not contain spaces.
All system clocks need to be correct.
Someone couldn’t connect to the fah server because their clock was wrong.

Thank you so much. Thank you. I forced time on VPS to be the same as on my homelab, and now it works properly. Thank you.

For working on a schedule, you could create a user cron job. To edit it (as non-root):

Code: Select all

$ crontab -e
In the file put something like this, which would start folding at 10 PM and stop folding at 7 AM:

Code: Select all

0 7 * * * /usr/bin/fahctl pause
0 22 * * * /usr/bin/fahctl fold
See crontab(5) for more info on the syntax.

Hello again! Yesterday I migrated my home server from Ubuntu to Fedora, moved my docker data root. After resuming the container, it finished the job successfully, but now it continues to spam the same error. I triple checked time and CPU core count. Attaching logs, just in case.

Code: Select all

User docker container, they said, it's gonna be dead easy, they said...
For a single device deployment, I prefer manual set up rather than someone else's idea of the set up.
I see more container based issues with FAH than with normal manual deployment. It seems to defeat the purpose of the container as a concept

It looks like the client in the container is unable to connect to the work server.

I wish it was easier. It is absolutely impossible to build it from source. When I tried to install deb (on Ubuntu) - it was referencing some unknown packages. Tried many ways to get it working, but failed. I'll post all logs and actions later, if I won't get container to work

It shouldn't be referencing any unknown packages. Ubuntu is the easiest distro to fold on. Containers are left for people with some obscure distro set ups

Maybe polkitd-pkla? The latest versions of Ubuntu/Kubuntu do not have that, so the client is impossible to install on them it seems: viewtopic.php?p=369247
