Issues With Connecting To Servers
I have been using Folding@home for years with over 45 million points but recently I have had issues with connecting to servers within the Folding@home network which started around the time the new client version came out. I think there may be a bug in the new client that was recently released.
The errors I am receiving is below.
04:00:55:W :CON20:DNS lookup failed for assign1.foldingathome.org
04:00:55:E :OUT20:Failed response: CONNECT
Another Error I am receiving is.
21:39:45:I1:WU13:Downloading WU
21:39:45:I1:OUT71:> POST https://ds01.scs.illinois.edu/api/assign HTTP/1.1
21:39:46:I1:OUT71:< HTTP/1.1 503 HTTP_SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE
21:39:46:E :OUT71:HTTP_SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE: {"error":{"message":"Please wait","code":503}
Is there any way to fix this? I have been using Folding@home for around 7 years and never had any issues until now with this.

Re: Issues With Connecting To Servers
That fixed it, Thank you for the solution. It must have been the previous client version that was causing that error.

Re: Issues With Connecting To Servers
Your allow/deny settings are backwards, but I don’t think that is your problem.

Re: Issues With Connecting To Servers
Custom cross platform code. There were problems trying to use libevent dns.
Does dns always fail for your fah client?
Is it possibly a firewall?
Fritzbox has been a problem in the past too.

Re: Issues With Connecting To Servers
Trying to redirect requests 80 and 443 ports to 8080 with my Mikrotik
(deleted because it was not helpful)
Deleted all lines beginning with 0.0.0.0 in my hosts file. Still no luck.

Re: Issues With Connecting To Servers
Are you using 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) as DNS resolver ?

HTTP/1.1 503 HTTP_SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE
After updating from fah-installer_7.6.21_x86 to fah-client_8.4.9_AMD64 two weeks ago I often got projects in the list with the status "resource not available" and the GPU wasn't folding. In the internet I found the hint to disable the GPU in the Default Resource Group and to add a new group with only the GPU enabled. The problem with the "resource not available" was gone. But sometime the GPU doesn't got a packet to fold for hours. First I thought on a server problem, because the next morning the GPU was folding again. But now I doesn't get a packet to fold for the GPU since two days.
I can reach the servers
F@H AS1: https://assign1.foldingathome.org/
F@H AS2: https://assign2.foldingathome.org/
with my browser microsoft edge. So it seems not to be a problem with the internet connection.

Re: Issues With Connecting To Servers
This is not the problem. This is normal for old GPUs to not get work. This occurrence will increase as time goes on, as we filter out older hardware more and more. It was just a coincidence that you updated to new client that you stopped getting more work. Client has no influence towards that
