Radeon HD 5830 AMDSpecies1

Post by victor »

Hello!

Currently running Windows 10 x64 and Beta Client 8.1.18 with the HD 5830 (FP64 and OpenCL 1.2 capable), Catalyst 15.7.1 (the latest supported).
The card seems to be properly recognized and enabled, but no WUs.
I'm wondering if it's the MDSpecies1: TeraScale classification. GPU.txt entry x1002:0x689e:1:1:Cypress LE [Radeon HD 5830].

Any possibility to make it run, maybe change species if possible? I've seen a 5870 get running here: viewtopic.php?t=35029

Thank you.

Welcome to the folding support forum.

They have dropped all support for the Terascale GPUs being used for folding. They are over a dozen years old, AMD has dropped support, and the current GPU folding core does not work well on the Terascale microarchitecture. That includes not supporting the HD 5870 that you found in a 3 year old topic.

Thank you for the welcome and clarification, @Joe_H. Those cards are very old indeed, I understand. Will keep the folding on the CPU.

Take care and thanks again.
