Ah, forgot to check AVX and SSE support. The i5-5250M does have AVX, so although they have similar benchmark scores for regular instructions, it makes sense that the 4417U would be slower. I only fold on 2 threads too.Joe_H wrote:In general though, your 4417U is limited by being a 2 core CPU with 4 threads available through HT. Also as a Pentium Intel has not enabled AVX support on the processor which makes a significant difference in processing speed.

Is anybody having issues with this work? I hit 28 % and it sped up to 10 hours remaining and a bit ago it just went back to 25% and it is now saying 3.2 days to complete.UGH sorry I am new to this board and I just realized I should have posted this in a different thread.

I am having issues with this work order also. It did exactly like you said. Working on it all day on ryzen 5 3600 and now I'm back at 28.5% with 3 days remaining.DavidCChapman wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 7:41 pm I've also seen this problem, running on a 7-year-old AMD FX-6300 with 6 processors (not using the GPU - it's too cheap to run F@H). Earlier this week I had a work unit expire; the log has been purged so I don't know the project number. This morning a work unit for project 18416 was assigned. Initial TPF was estimated at 57 minutes, jumping to 1 hour, 15 minutes after the first fold. ETA is 5.00 days now (2012-10-02T19:40:05Z) with an expiration of 2021-10-06T18:22:47Z, so it will expire too.
I hate to waste CPU cycles, so some tuning on the F@H side would be appreciated.
The log so far is:

If you could provide information on exactly what you did, as the advice given a year ago to the poster you quoted was for a much different processor. Also post the first 100 lines of your log and included the section where you see this problem. Direction on how to post a go are included in the Welcome to the Forum topic - viewtopic.php?t=26036

Re: 184XX series work units assigned to slow CPUs
So,after all being well since my last post I have just received WU 18810 that I have absolutely no chance of completing in time. Is there any way to bale from these WU's and use my laptop for something useful?

F@H allows you to dump a work unit if you can't finish it before the deadline.southofnonorth wrote: ↑Sun Oct 30, 2022 10:48 pm So,after all being well since my last post I have just received WU 18810 that I have absolutely no chance of completing in time. To do that, pause the work unit, note the ID of the appropriate slot (if you have more than one) and close the client if wanted.
Go to start menu
Folding@home
Data Directory
Work
Once there, delete the folder that is the same as the work ID in your Work Queue. Then restart F@H and you should pick up another work unit.
Have you tried setting your threads down to 2 yet as suggested earlier in this thread? Though F@H allows dumping of work units it is highly suggested to either reconfigure to allow assignments that will finish, or if needed to quit folding on that hardware if it struggles to meet deadlines on a regular basis.
Fold them if you get them!

Thanks very much for that info - I have dumped the WU and also set to 2 threads

Re: 184XX series work units assigned to slow CPUs
Hopefully going to 2 threads might help you get lower priority or less intensive work units that give you enough time to complete. As a bonus, you will have more system resources available for your use, as well as lower fan speeds and power consumption.southofnonorth wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 4:53 pm Thanks very much for that info - I have dumped the WU and also set to 2 threads
If it doesn't help with deadlines, then chances are likely that the hardware on that machine is nearing end of life for use folding. But you could still get some use out of it if you're creative.
Fold them if you get them!
