I personally always use the same username and passkey across all my systems. That way, all the points are tied to one identity. However, some donors keep the same passkey but change their username so that they can track how their individual machines are performing. Do note that if you choose to use the same passkey but different usernames, each combination of username and passkey will need to qualify for the bonus points.peterjammo wrote:...I have 2 usernames on the go - when I set up the second one I wasn't sure if I could do multiple machines so played it safe. Can I use the same passkey with both, or should I change the second user name to match the other 4?

I'm being a numpty - didn't check your most recent log, which makes me concur with Panther/Halo regarding GPU suitability.peterjammo wrote:On the heat stuff, the gpu has a freshly cleaned and pasted twin fan MSI Frozr ii cooler. The fan speed mentioned is for the two gpu fans. CPU fins are running between 1950 and 2070rpm, cpu temp maxes out at around 62c. As above GPU temp maxed out at 53c, wouldn't preclude any temp issues? Case is decent sized with a clean filtered rear bottom entry and a decent sized fan at the top of the rear. Intake air comes past the GPU first and past the cpu on the way out. Case and exit air isn't particularly warm.

Your card predates my previous RX480 which had infrequent but similar issues with certain WUs - it'd fail repeatedly and the WU would get handed off to someone else. At least, like yours, it failed early. gen+1 can't start until gen completes, as I understand it.
I've not picked up GPU work for days. I am munching through a lot of CPU covid stuff though. Every little helps with this horrible pandemic. First time in my life I've ever written that p word. Truly sobering.

Looks like my most recent failed wu has been reissued and failed for someone else now - if I'm reading this right.foldy wrote:I also got bad state detected at 3% once with this project Project 11748 while other projects work without issues.

Wish I could check the 3rd wu that failed now. I went to look at saved logs, and there was no directory for them. Assuming that it may be hidden I clicked the view hidden button. Windows then ran a 5 minute process which appears to have either damaged or deleted the user. Rebooted in safe mode to try to recover, only to discover that my bluetooth keyboard isn't recognised in safe mode so I can't recover. Rebooted again, and it's now decided that it'll install the mother of all updates. 1 hr in its at 23% and still moving. I'm not hopeful of recovering the situation without a reinsatall.

Does seem that there's absolutely no shortage of gpu resources, so I'll be happy to carry on with the CPU stuff, if I can get this Windows problem sorted. Did I ever mention how much I don't miss WIndows since moving over to Linux about 3 years ago......... If I was sure there was nothing important on the HDD, It'd be wiped and Minty fresh by now. Pity I don't have a spare desktop HDD or a convertor.NuovaApe wrote:I've not picked up GPU work for days. I am munching through a lot of CPU covid stuff though.
