Hi,
I have noticed several times now, that my FAHClient can go idle for prolonged periods of time, but if I restart the client, it seems like I am getting work pretty soon afterwards. What exactly is causing this behavior, and why would that make any sense? I feel like there are a lot of machines idling out there, that otherwise would have work to do, if they just restarted their clients?
Thanks

Re: Idle until I restart FAHCllient
When our servers have been unable to deliver a new WU, FAH will go idle and then retry periodically. By design, the period between retrys gets longer and longer so if it has been idle for a long time, it won't be retrying very often. Restarting can shorten this period, but don't do that too often because of the extra traffic that will be put on the server. A simple PAUSE/FOLD will also initiate an immediate retry.
Unfortuantely FAH's staff have been frantically adding new servers and generating new research assignments but as fast as they do that, the demand grows too.
