Re: Please add Radeon Pro WX Vega M GL
I've been unable to get the card running in FAH when adding this as a GPU slot in the config menu; it is recognized in the FAH Control client as an OpenCL device. I tried a fresh reinstall a few times without success. It looks like the software downloads an FahCore_a4 exe in Windows 10 user AppData when the GPU is added, rather than a 0x21 core and then proceeds to give "No WUs available for this configuration" errors. The i7-8706G CPU folds normally running FahCore_a7. Any help is much appreciated.

Re: Please add Radeon Pro WX Vega M GL
You do not post the first 100 lines of the log where it shows what equipment and software the Client knows about. That would help.
WU01:FS00 is your CPU slot. It can run an a4 or an a7 core, you seem to be running an a7 in the log. There are some hints in the log that it is an 8 thread CPU newer than 2013. It seems fine. It knows you have a GPU, so folds on 6 threads, so there is CPU power to aid the GPU.
WU00:FS01 seems to be your GPU slot, nothing is working on that slot, so it is not clear what GPU the client thinks it has. (the configuration part of the log would help) Whatever you are sending the assignment server does not seem to be a GPU it has Work Units for.

Re: Please add Radeon Pro WX Vega M GL
The message "No WUs available for this configuration" gave me a clue. I checked the GPUs.txt file, and the Vega M GL is categorized as not having double precision processing available. Currently all, or at least almost all projects for GPU folding require mixed precision calculations, most processing is done with single precision but some operations are done in double to retain enough accuracy.
A brief search of sites for information on this GPU, a discrete AMD GPU chip packaged with an Intel i-series CPU, did not turn up any information on whether the Vega M GL does have double precision available. It may be following prior iGPU practices of not including double precision as it is not needed for gaming and similar applications. The only way possibly to be sure on this would be running one of the benchmarks such as FAHBench to see if double precision is available.

Re: Please add Radeon Pro WX Vega M GL
Thanks for the quick response, Joe and Jim!
It look likes double precision is working on the GPU. When running FAHBench with the following settings, these are the results:
Device: gfx804
Compute: OpenCL
Precision: double
WU: dhfr
Accuracy check: Enabled
NaN Check: 0-Disabled
Run length: 1 min
Score: 4.68
Atoms: 23558
The benchmark that I get here is between a GTX 1660 ti (8.65) and GTX 950 (2.71), which is why I'd really like to put it to work for folding, as it is more than capable of returning work units on or well ahead of a normal requested schedule.

Re: Please add Radeon Pro WX Vega M GL
Like Joe_H, I'm having trouble finding technical information about this device.
If you go to www.amd.com and select "Drivers and Support, which drivers are recommended?
If you run gpu-z what does it tell you about the device?

Hi Bruce,
The GPU-Z info is the same as what's in my original GPU whitelist request post, and it has a hardware detail lookup at:
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/r ... m-gl.c3352
The detailed GPU slot download log files from FAHClient.exe are as follows:
Hope this helps.

You may wish to remove this directive and see if that helps, there may simply be no WUs for AMD cards for Cancer at this moment.
Your tech power up link does show FP64 support (double precision) as well as GCN 1.2 support. So despite confusion about sometimes claiming to be Vega and sometimes claiming to be Polaris, it does seem capable of running F@H. (You may find your PC overheats, if so try deleting the CPU slot, it makes fewer PPD than the GPU slot)
This Wikipedia article says that while branded as Vega, it is Polaris 22. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphics_ ... xt#Chips_4

Re: Please add Radeon Pro WX Vega M GL
If the AS code is working correctly, the cause setting should not be an issue. If there are no WU's for a specific cause, the client is supposed to be assigned one from other projects and causes. The real issue is that there was no work for a GPU categorized as not supporting double precision in the GPUs.txt file.JimboPalmer wrote:04:04:06: <!-- Folding Slot Configuration -->

0x1002:0x694e:1:4:[Radeon RX Vega M XL]
0x1002:0x694f:1:4:[Radeon WX Vega M GL]
The Tech Power writeup is interesting, though they do list the performance as theoretical. The actual test with FAHBench showing double precision performance value is more useful as a confirmation. There have been a number of GPU chip families that support FP64, but when released in iGPU or mobile formats have had it disabled in hardware or the driver.
If the entry does get changed to show DP is available, it will be interesting to see how well it performs. As the Vega M is packaged by Intel with a Kaby Lake i5 or i7, video RAM and a bus chip to handle communications between them, the TDP for the package is 65 W. How that is divvied up between the CPU and GPU depends on Intel's thermal controls.

Re: Please add Radeon Pro WX Vega M GL
This log section shows a different, possibly non-related issue. Core A4 is a CPU folding core, not for your GPU. The error messages point towards a permissions issue with your install or the account you were using at this time, Windows was not allowing the downloaded core to be placed where it needed to be for processing the WU that required it.JohnJohn wrote:Hi Bruce,

Re: Please add Radeon Pro WX Vega M GL
In fact, the 1002.694F GPU Polaris 22 MGL XL [Radeon Pro WX Vega M GL] is not supported by FAH.
FAH has never supported any GPUs with Intel drivers (including Intel OpenCL drivers) and it's not clear to me what AMD drivers might be used to make it look like a supportable AMD device. (I'm going to guess that this device contains a CPU device (supported by standard CPU drivers in your OS, possibly an Intel iGPU supported by Intel drivers, and possibly also an AMD GPU, supported by AMD drivers. A lot depends on how FAH detects those devices and whether you have options to run other drivers.
