And yes, running a WU that won't complete before the Expiration time is (worse than) useless, because it won't complete but won't get reassigned until it expires. This is one of the few times it makes sense to dump a WU.
Here it is:

Well, the settings are there and look correct -- Let's hope a mod can pass this to PG to check why it didn't work correctly.

Well, that's got mucked up completely, I think. I paused the assignment whilst I ran my Excel power consumption/Feed In tariff spreadsheet and when I unpaused it and went back to ckeck on the web control it showed the completion as 0.02%. Why?

Sorry guys, we were missing a MaxPacket>5 constraint on this work server / for 11703,4,5. Fixed now. Thanks for spotting the problem!

So shall I dump the present assignment and if so what is the best way to do that?

Hardware configuration: 1. 2 each E5-2630 V3 processors, 64 GB RAM, GTX980SC GPU, and GTX980 GPU running on windows 8.1 operating system.
2. I7-6950X V3 processor, 32 GB RAM, 1 GTX980tiFTW, and 2 each GTX1080FTW GPUs running on windows 8.1 operating system.

I believe the best way to dump is to delete the slot and save. Wait for the WU to be acknowledged in by the server in the log. Then you can add back the slot to start a new work unit.

IMO, yes to dumping.

The usual recommendation is to delete and recreate the slot, but of course you will need to re-enter all the parameters during initial configuration, or you'll get another bad 'un.

Alternatively, pause the slot and note the Work Queue entry number (NOT Folding Slot number). From the Start menu, go to FAHClient Data directory, then Work, then delete the numbered directory corresponding to the Work Queue entry. Un-pause the slot, and Robert will be your parent's male sibling.

This seemed the easiest option as there was only one numbered directory in my FAHClient/Data/Work directory. New assignment downloaded and running. Definitely Core 15 and has 48.78 days to complete the assignment. I will let it run for a few hours before I consider the ETA (at present 37.94 days with only 371 PPD).

I have also changed the CPU (slot 0) to 2 threads, as suggested when running core 15 project assignments, and that too has now downloaded a work unit and running (again only a lowly 212 PPD showing at the moment)

UPDATE:

CPU slot now showing 2925 PPD and GPU slot now showing 3488 PPD. I imagine this is about what is to be expected from my current rig.

Re: Is my GPU working correctly

When I used to run core 15 projects on my very old 9800 GTX+, I was getting 11k PPD.

Very simple maths :
9800 GTX+ : 128 SP ... GT 520 : 48 SP. Ratio : 0.375
9800 GTX+ : 11 000 PPD * 0.375 = 4 125 PPD.

Add that the 9800 GTX+ shader clocks was at 1836 MHz while the GT520 shader clock is only 1620 MHz (ratio 0.88), I think your PPD is what you can expect (4125*0.88 = 3630) :)

Note : architectural differences not taken into account.

"..Of those choices, buying the GTX 750 Ti is the best choice both for science and for the points you earn. Switching to Core_15 is really only applicable for those who cannot upgrade their GPU..."

I now have my new Nvidia GTX 750 Ti card and ready to install. As luck would have it I have just started new core:15 GPU assignment and a new CPU:2 assignment (15.5% and 31.3% respectively). The GPU assignment has an ETA of 3.4 days. Should I wait for that to complete before installing my new card or can I just Pause and install it?

The GPU WU may not like a change of GPU, it might get dumped (or it might survive quite happily :))
The CPU WU probably won't even notice the GPU change -- but the new GPU will need a CPU core reserved to service it.

Best advice is to set both WUs to Finish and wait. After uploading, uninstall FAH, including the data. Shut down, change GPUs, reboot, and reinstall FAH. Don't forget to put your folding name and the passkey back in!

Thanks for the advice. I will wait as suggested but it will be torture waiting to find what difference it makes!
