Shut down folding for around 24hrs, come back online, set her to run, cpu gets on with it fine after download, but as above i get the same thing for GPU, status tab shows GPU status as Update_core
FYI for those who find themselves in this "core loop" situation:
The best way to correct this until PG fixes the fault is to Remove the slot using Advanced Control (aka FAHControl) ... i.e. highlight the client (assuming you have more than one), click on Configure then Slots, highlight the slot that won't run and click on Remove then Save. The client will then send a file back to the server telling it that the WU has been dumped and it can be re-assigned to another, hopefully more appropriate, folder immediately rather than waiting for the timeout which can be days or even weeks. Removing it by other means can seriously slow down the project.
You can then Add the slot back and hopefully you get a WU that you can process.
Interestingly, I dumped mine by pausing and deleting the work folder. When I unpaused, the client looked for the unit, found it gone, and infromed the WS:
Thanks for that report David. I thought that might be the case but IIRC at least one folder reported that deleting the work folder did not inform the WS of the dumping. As you say removing and re-adding the slot seems a bit easier than pausing, finding the WU number etc and deleting it.
The consensus appears to be that removing and re-adding the slot is the preferred method but there are a couple of others as mentioned in this post and the following few posts. One of the nice things about removing and re-adding the slot is that it can be completely done within the FAHControl gui without having to open up a file manager or terminal to find and delete the appropriate work folder.
Hardware configuration: Intel i7-4770K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR3-2133 Corsair Vengence (black/red), EVGA GTX 760 @ 1200 MHz, on an Asus Maximus VI Hero MB (black/red), in a blacked out Antec P280 Tower, with a Xigmatek Night Hawk (black) HSF, Seasonic 760w Platinum (black case, sleeves, wires), 4 SilenX 120mm Case fans with silicon fan gaskets and silicon mounts (all black), a 512GB Samsung SSD (black), and a 2TB Black Western Digital HD (silver/black).

Is the system above for removing and then adding a slot the only way to delete work units, used to do it via folders years ago :s
Please read the previous few posts. Removing the slot is clearly not the only way to remove a WU. But the slot method is the faster, safer, and recommended way do do it.

Thanks Tim,
Will stick to slot removal and adding to save errors.

Core 18 p10471 and p10472's are raining over my gpu's as well. The GTX 780 Ti is holding up pretty well, but the GTX 980 is almost down to Core 15 PPD (without the coil whine, though). No beta/advanced on either gpu.
I just picked up another Core_18 (P10473) on one of my GTX 750 Tis this morning, even though I had totally uninstalled FAH a couple of days ago (including the data folder), and re-installed it. Only Core_17 was listed in the "C:\ProgramData\FAHClient\cores\web.stanford.edu\~pande\Win32\AMD64\NVIDIA\Fermi" folder for the first day. But this morning, it also picked up the Core_15 and Core_18 folders, so apparently they are installed automatically now. And I just now picked up still another Core_18 (P10472) on another machine (also GTX 750 Ti). They are both marked "ZETA_DEV" in HFM.NET, so whether they are supposed to be released yet is still a question.
In any case, I am getting 26.8k PPD (TPF 20 to 23 minutes), which is a little less than half of the 66k that I normally get on a Core_17 (P9201). That is not so bad as compared to the reduction that the higher-end Maxwell cards get for what it is worth. I can live with it until they get a fix, hopefully sooner rather than later though.
Calling Core_17 ZETA and Core_18 ZETA-DEV may be an unfortunate choice of names. Whatever development work is put into Core_18 will certainly be released once it's ready (which might have already happened). It might be retrofitted into Core_17 or the name -DEV might end up being a permanent fixture.
