Re: Stats not updating

Post by snapshot »

The assignment servers need kicking as I'm still not getting any core 17 or 18 WUs on my two GTX750Ti's. I accept that one has to do ones share of core 15 WUs but I feel like I'm doing several other people's shares as well. One of the team said I was mistaken when I said it was because the ASs didn't like me - he obviously hasn't been in IT as long as I have......

Edit by Mod: He said elsewhere he was running Windows.

We run the stats in a container of sorts and it's looking like the container isn't behaving well (the host server is doing great). We're looking to see what's the best solution here. It might be that we have to migrate from a container to a full server, although that's undesirable for several reasons. We're looking into what's the best solution given a) our specs needed and b) the unreliability of the container we're seeing.

We've also made some changes to the scripts that run in that container (in addition to the stats) to see if that can help.

Thanks Bill ... PG notified.

EDIT: EOC does show an update but it doesn't look completely up to date.

We're going to continue manually running it when it goes down to better understand what the problem is. Given the pattern, it seems like a good bet that it will go down tomorrow -- I think I know what's going on and have a way to fix it, likely implementing that Sunday or Monday.

Yes, I noticed that. It was up to date for me on WU count, but had given me about 400 points that I can't account for! It could be that the log estimates are a bit out, one of the WUs was for ~87,000 points so a slight difference isn't unexpected. I'm not complaining

Dr Pande mentioned some changes to scripts, maybe the downloadable stats files are being produced but team/individual access isn't working?

edit- Oops, Dr Pande posted while I was still typing :D

UPDATE: We've put in some new code to help handle the stats being down in a more automated fashion. The upshot is that if the stats goes down during an update, it will take care of itself on the next update, so hopefully the longest you'll see the stats down is a single update.

Working OK for me.

I've noticed once or twice recently that the points have updated correctly but the "Last Updated" hasn't, so it can look like it's missed one. I've put this down to a quirk related to Dr Pande's latest code, but I could be wrong.

I see the correct stats when I go to the Stats page on Stanfords website but when I click on my team name I get an outdated team stats page. Tried with Firefox and SeaMonkey. Odd ... :?

Ah, right… I'm not in a team (unless you count Team 0  ) so hadn't checked that.

Having rectified that omission I agree with you- the stats for Team 0 are several hours out of date:

Code: Select all

Report generated on	01:17:57 October 30, 2014
Date of last work unit	2014-10-29 15:14:36
And if I scroll down to my entry the points total supports that.

Is that roughly in accord with what you're getting for your team?

I had a look at the downloadable all-team stats file and that seems OK as far as I can tell, but it disagrees with what clicking on the team name gives.

So it would seem that the stats are being collected properly, so the 3rd-party team stats can be believed, but the official ones can't :(

Possibly.

Something else for PG to look at.
