Work Unit has an invalid address (0.0.0.0) SMP AMD Tri-Core

I just brought a new XP FAH SMP 5.91 beta6 server online today. Unfortunately, after 8 hours I still have not been able to download a client. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, same problem...

I tried with and without WU Greater the 5MB. same problem...

I have an AMD Phenom X3 8450 1GB DDR2-800

I appreciate any help in resolving this.

The "invalid address (0.0.0.0)" is version 5's way of telling you that there is no work that can be assigned to your client right now. The best course of action is to simply wait. One of the critical servers has been down and it's very, very busy right now.

I have 8 other SMP clients still receiveing new work. Only the new install is not receiving work. Any ideas?

Configuration differences might include forgetting to set BigWU. Look for differences in client.cfg and post here if you have any questions.

The configuration is listed above (Allow receipt of work assignments greater than 5MB in size (no/yes) [no]?yes). I'm stumped. I'll check the client.cfg and post back.

Reran the config to match other clients. Client.cfg's are identical. Still no joy...

This is a clone... I did remove the ID# from the Pandegroup entry in the registry to get new ID#. The only real differnce is the AMD triple core vs- my AMD Dual and Quads. Is there a core switch?

It looks like the SMP server don't know how to deal with 3-core CPU ...

If you look on the server status page, you'll find a column called "smp cores" for server 171.64.65.56, 171.64.65.63 and 171.64.65.64 ... this column only knows 2, 4, 8 and 16 cores ... So Phenom X3 is not taken into account (it doesn't know how to deal with 3 cores) and I assume it would be the case if someont had an Intel Dunnington CPU (6 cores) or an AMD Shangai CPU (12 cores).

Someone form Stanford need to add some numbers for this settings

I replaced the Tri Core with a dual core and instant success... folding away...

Thanks for the help... Tri cores aren't very popular so I don't know if we'll see projects for them. I'll volunteer to test it if they do...

AMD is the company who brought us the tri-core. They can lock out a bad core on the quad-core and sell the chip as a tri-core for 75% of what a quad-core costs.
