ATI 5670 / 12.8 drivers (fails to start)

Add a passkey and set client-type to advanced.

vip00 -> Are you using driver version 12.8 or not? If it is a different one, can you please tell us what it is?

I apologize, I am using 13.4, the most recent version. This problem just sounded similar to mine, so I posted in this thread.

On a side note, I tried the suggestion of running the beta x17 core to see if it would run. It does seem to run just fine, but then dead ends at the upload/download step, so I am not sure if that is a folding issue or some sort of connection issue. One way or the other, neither one actually seems to work for me.

On a side note, I tried the suggestion of running the beta x17 core to see if it would run. It does seem to run just fine, but then dead ends at the upload/download step, so I am not sure if that is a folding issue or some sort of connection issue. One way or the other, neither one actually seems to work for me.

Don't be discouraged if you have troubles today. Either it wil fix itself (hopefully later today) or we can help you tomorrow.

Aha, thanks for the tip. Hopefully the x17 core will let me fold and upload normally once everything is settled in. I do wonder why the x16 core won't load for me.

The last known fully compatible driver for the older Core_16 is 12.8. Newer versions have had various problems such as failing to work at all, or folding using only a fraction of the GPU compute power. Some persons have managed to get folding on the Core_16 WU's to work better with custom installs of the drivers. Basically they installed the newer driver, but used the OpenCL support SDK from the 12.8 installer. There are some issues there of making sure all of the newer components are completely uninstalled first, etc.; there are a couple topics on the issues listed under this sub-forum.
