Newbie - WU Credits

Post by AOBaggies »

Hi, I am a bit confused over the awarding of credits for WU's. I completed my first WU and in the log file it states the Final Credit estimate is 1625.00 points, yet when I checked the stats of my account, they state I have been awarded only 260 credits - is this right?

Log Excerpt:
19:44:27:WU02:FS01:Upload 41.85%
19:44:33:WU02:FS01:Upload 65.76%
19:44:39:WU02:FS01:Upload 89.68%
19:44:43:WU02:FS01:Upload complete
19:44:43:WU02:FS01:Server responded WORK_ACK (400)
19:44:43:WU02:FS01:Final credit estimate, 1625.00 points
19:44:43:WU02:FS01:Cleaning up

Folding at Home stats page for my account :
Donor xxxxxx
Team xxxxxx
Score 260 (certificate)
Donor Rank 1267277 of 1685077
WU 1 (certificate)

NB: the links to the certificates are also baffling as apparently they are for achieving 0 Work Units and 0 Points.

Welcome to the folding@home support forum AOBaggies.

The estimated credit in the log is based on receiving the Quick Return Bonus. In order to receive the QRB you have to be using a qualified passkey. Until you complete 10 work units and maintain an 80% success rate while using said passkey you only get basic credit which is what you received(you might have received 10% more than basic if the work unit was using the a4 core). The basic credits can be seen in the Project Summary(link at the top of the page).

ah - ok, that's good to know. I couldn't work out what had happened and wondered whether I had set something up wrong. Thanks for the reply :)

Regarding the certificates, once you reach a certain milestones, the certificate will update itself. It will not be updated on an hourly basis like your main stats thus the certificate will usually have lower points/WUs than you currently have. IIRC, this was done to reduce the server load.

PantherX,

I did have one question about certificates. I have been involved with two different teams and I notice that team affiliation is not part of the certificate. Any reason then that the certificates are not issued against the total score, instead of by contribution to each team?

I know the points don't matter, but I did find it odd.

Take care and have a good day.

Not sure of the real reason but one possible reason is that your username isn't unique, i.e someone else can also fold under the same donor name as yours but for a different team(s). When that happens, you can see your contribution as a per team basis instead of a global one which can possibly include points which aren't "yours".

PX, Rich already stated folding for two teams hence the double entries. It's more likely Rich pulled the cert from a stats link that referenced both a user name and team #. Search for your user name only to get a combined stats cert.

Edit: I was wrong, the official stats currently won't let you combine teams when generating a cert. I had a different recollection. I've been folding a long time... and it's been a long time since I cared to look at a cert. ;)

If you use the official stats page, you can enter both your name and your passkey. That should allow you to differentiage between points that belong to you vs. points that were used by somebody else using the same username.

ALCON,

Ah, got it. I did not realize that when one changes teams, you pick up a new user ID (at least according to the Extreme Overclocking stats page). In my case they are 486356 and 638022. Interesting. I learn something new every day.

Thanks for all your help and hope y'all have a good evening.

BTW, the user ID is related to EOC only, i.e. EOC creates it and it is not obtained from the official stats.

Welcome to the F@H Forum mrvegas,

You can use the same passkey/username across OS and systems. However, just to make sure, you are not sharing the same WU between Linux and Windows, right? The reason is that Windows and Linux have their own FahCores and WUs which can't really be interchanged (some Projects exists on both OS but the FahCore version might be different).
