Do these PPD seem low to you

Post by tlg »

I have two i7 machines one is a i7 3610gm @2.3GHz folding at 2721 ppd at full speed and the other is a i7 860 @ 2.8 GHZ and folds at 8094 ppd. I keep reading about people getting 15k+ ppd and I'm just wondering if there is a DB of cpu's out there that I could look at to get a proper comparison going. Or really any help at all.

You need to also add the work unit number. Different wu run different times.

My i7y 950@4.0Ghz has a good 10K ppd difference from best to worst units.

Welcome to the folding forum.

The PPD for the 3610GM (do you mean 3610QM?) seems a bit on the low side to me based on the specs for the 3610QM I could find. As this part was designed for mobile use, is this in a laptop? You may also need to set your power management to max performance along with setting the slider to Full in the Web Control or FAHControl.

As for the i7 860, that is in about the right range as I can compare to the one in my iMac. Which projects you get and the OS you are running will influence that number. The current releases of the folding cores are reported to fold a bit less efficiently on Windows and better on Linux and OS X. My average PPD over a number of different projects is in the 11-12,000 range, but currently I am getting some WU's from a project group that is tending to be around 8500 PPD.

The QM (my mistake there) is on a laptop and is maxed out. The PRCG for that is 7646 (112, 2, 95). I guess I won't worry about my desktop rig then.
