Stats update needs more than 15 minutes
For some reason, the stats updates which run every hour require more than 15 minutes to complete. This is a far cry from the claim on the update page that it should take about 5 minutes. This means that, for example, I can't access my user page as late as 1:15 for an update that started at 1:00. Have there been changes that make this process very slow? It may be a good idea for Stanford to consider adding better hardware to make this process faster.
When I began folding about three years ago, it took about 10-12 minutes to update the user stats. Now it takes more than 15 minutes. It seems the system has not been upgraded to keep up with the increasing number of users.

Re: Stats update needs more than 15 minutes
Not all is what it appears.
10-12 minutes isn't that far from 15 minutes, so this really hasn't changed that much.
And as that update page notes, there are several other stats pages you can view during the update, so essentially no loss of functionality.
See also this NEWS post: http://folding.typepad.com/news/2011/02 ... -slow.html So it's not like Pande Group is oblivious to the issue.
I'm still looking for the followup post where they upgraded after that...

Re: Stats update needs more than 15 minutes
Perhaps the five minutes indicated on the website was more accurate when there were less registered teams and individual donors. With a 15 minute delay, that means that 25% of the time, the pages are unavailable. There are flat files that can be downloaded, but they take a while to download since its a pretty big list. There are third-party stats pages that I actually often use instead of the official ones. I'd like to see improvements to the updating speeds as well, but that's really on the PG's end.

Re: Stats update needs more than 15 minutes
I have been trying to check my own personal stats (Robert_M._McEachern) for 2+ hours, and all I get is the page showing that stats is in the process of updating, with a PDT start time of October 9, 2012, 17:23:14. (I am talking about the Folding@Home website individual statistics)

Re: Stats update needs more than 15 minutes
You are correct. The individual stats page has been "updating for over 12 hours now.
They'll get it fixed, I'm sure.

Re: Stats update needs more than 15 minutes
The team stats webpage is stuck as well, but the flat files are being updated normally.
Re: Stats update needs more than 15 minutes
The Pande Group is aware of the problem. They're working on the web script(s). In the meantime the Flat Files are still being updated so the 3rd party stats are still being updated, as KMac says.

Thanks very much. I have been able to check the 3rd party stats.

Problem with PG Stats Web Page
The internal stats lookup page on Stanford's web server has been stuck on an "update" cycle, not allowing any donor lookups, since last night (Tues. Pacific).
"update started at Wed Oct 10 00:23:14 UTC 2012 (Tue Oct 9 17:23:14 PDT 2012)"
I haven't been able to do any lookups all day. Can someone ping PG about this, if haven't already?

They already have. See the latest announcement: viewtopic.php?f=24&p=226061#p226061Tobit wrote:The internal stats lookup page on Stanford's web server has been stuck on an "update" cycle, not allowing any donor lookups, since last night (Tues. Pacific).

Re: Stats update needs more than 15 minutes
All is working fine once again.
Re: Stats update needs more than 15 minutes
It's not working fine on my machine. I still have "update started at Thu Oct 11 01:00:00 UTC 2012 (Wed Oct 10 18:00:00 PDT 2012)" on my machine even after a screen refresh.

Try emptying the cache for your browser, and clicking through from the link to the official stats at the top of the forum page. The stats are working fine for me from my system at home.
