Short for Count(ess) of Work units (processed by Us). That's a majestic plural, mind you. Or Victorian plural, if you happen to be a royalist, but I advise against that. Royalists shall be frowned upon by yours truly, on this topic at least. What would you expect from a guy with a "Napoleon" nick, anyway?

Unless I'm mistaken, PG plans to sunset core 78 and replace it with A4. That way also the lowest of the low should get a taste of QRBs eventually. A bunch of powerful machines might get those pesky core 78 projects out of the way right quick. If you switched to BOINC just to get your point across, clearly the points aren't a matter of life and death to you. How about giving a hand to small time folders like yours truly by helping us get rid of those core 78 WUs out of the way for good?

I'd like to receive at least some A4 WUs for the tiniest bit of QRB goodness on my Atom330, but looks like I'm stuck with core 78 WUs until the end of days, or at least until they get done. That future looks grim, currently I'm folding a P6884 WU at gen 186, and a P6891 WU at gen 57.

It got me to thinking... while the bigguns are worried about points inflation, debate whether or not the points reflect scientific value etc etc, ad nauseam, why don't the rest of us have good old fashioned fun in the meantime and roll our own little contest? Let's see who can crunch the largest number of WUs successfully during this month.

Here are the rules:

Doesn't matter if they are Uniprocessor, GPU, SMP, BA or PS3 WUs. What matters is that you've completed and submitted them successfully
Participation is free for all folders. If you really think you can win this one by crunching only BA WUs, more power to you. Feel free to switch to e.g running multiple uni clients/slots or SMP if you must. Farmers are welcome to participate, too, the Knighthood welcomes all able bodied squires to the tournament
Let me know of your participation in this month's tournament by posting to this topic - preferably only once. Provide link(s) to Kakao Stats or EOC Stats (preferred) for your username(s) and team(s), I pledge to take it upon myself to determine February Champion from the submissions
Please be chivalrous. Edit your submission so that I may deduct any EUEd or otherwise failed WUs from your total WU count. I want to include succesfully completed and submitted WUs only
PinHead has graciously offered a week's worth of folding on behalf of the February Champion during March to celebrate his newly built BA capable machine, a 32-core Interlagos @2.1GHz running on Ubuntu 11.10. The Champion may choose the type of work to be folded on it, be it BA, SMP or 32x uniprocessor. At the end of the 7th day, all clients will be restarted with the -oneunit flag to finish out downloaded work.
The Champion needs to claim his/her reward by providing a passkey to me with a PM, I'll pass it on to PinHead. We both pledge to keep your passkey sub rosa. If the Champion declines the reward, it shall be passed on to the 2nd best contestant, and so on

Thank you for your generosity in sponsoring this tournament, PinHead. I'd also wish to point out that an ulterior motive of this contest is to get some "dated" core 78 work done faster and encourage people to also fold those "lesser" work units without QRB in general, or at least WUs with a less attractive QRB. I would hope that PinHead's magnanimous gesture sets a nice precedent, IMHO it is no small feat to donate some 1 million points to support a worthy cause. This way the Champion is compensated for a points loss during the contest. Not to mention the option of lending further support to the cause by requesting uniprocessor work be done as the reward.

I plan to make this tournament a monthly festivity. One new member shall be admitted to the knighthood after every tournament - the contestant of the month with most WUs who hasn't been knighted yet. With the authority of Solo Grand Master of the Knighthood of Wusses I shall grant the new member either one of the following prestigious titles:

This time you get to choose, not some uncompromising pair of chromosomes. I don't care about the reasoning behind your choice of your title any more than I care about PPD, I'm open minded that way.

Current members of the knighthood need not prove their mettle over and over again. Once earned, the membership stands. However, they are free to join a new tournament and try to dethrone the current Champion. There has to be a start, so the initial Champion has to be yours truly (already looks like I won't be the Champion after this month). Without further ado,

I'm folding for a team of my own making and all the users in it are various incarnations of me, so it's easy to count my WUs for February. Note that I've had two failed WUs this month, so I need to deduct them from the total.

Not wanting to derail the thread too much but just to let you know there are SMP rigs out there with sub 1 minute frame times,

As an aside i'll join a May challenge if there is one, too late this month and i'm on holidays mid march to april 4th.

Is it one rig only or the farm as a whole?

Edit, I'll give it a go this month. Total number of WU 66 for team [H]ardOCP and 21 for bluray.com so 87 in total. All SMP or -bigadv

I'll gladly pass ^^ My housemates have already been suspicious of me after the last electricity bill hit them - and I only have 1 rig here. Also, my 2500K + 6870 will never keep up with the rest of the empire. I'll just fold on and mind my own business, but thanks for the contest anyway, Leader of Wusses!

Doesn't beat Grandpa, but (per EOC Stats) as of 02.18.12, 12am CST, I have 426 WUs from 4 computers/7 cores so far in Feb. The number of SMP WUs has recently rocketed up due to the TINY 8001/8002/8004/8021/8022 WUs I've been receiving. On the 2600k, the TPF for the 8004 is about 30 sec (actually, pretty low PPD compared with other larger WU, but there are a LOT of them)

I have to admit there are aspects to this humorous little contest I didn't think through quite thoroughly when I first had the rough idea. Hence I've made some clarifications to the OP and my example submission (2nd post in this thread). I think you all find it easier to submit just link(s) to Kakao and/or EOC Stats, I'll take it from there. Please reread my two OPs, though. No need for new posts, please edit your existing submission, I'll check all of them eventually. Most importantly, remember to add a statement at the end of the month, letting me know how many failed WUs you've had this month in a timely fashion. Please do so even if you have zero, that way I get some sort of acknowledgement that you're keeping track.

To whet your appetite, there may even be a reward for the new Champion in March. However, that is yet to be confirmed.

Grandpa, looks like I won't be champion for long, quite a farm you got there. Oh well, I take comfort in the fact that the signature title shall remain mine.

I look at EOC and Kakao stats both all the time - and they are good for different things. But, the EOC stats keeps a tally by calendar month, whereby Kakao has their tally by day & week, overlapping the month boundaries.

So far, Grandpa is well ahead of the competition. There's still a chance to give him a run for it... grab some uni and/or GPU Wus and join the tournament, folks.

I've got a quantity of wuss-like clients. They go on- and off-line frequently due to the demands of testing, by WU count, that puts me in the middle of the pack.
