Re: Help I'm new
If you installed it as a service its probably already running, to check ctrl-alt-del and your cpu usage should be 100% get a FAH monitor to track your progress if you want.
If not as a service launch it from the icon in the FAH directory, your work should have been saved.

Welcome to the folding forum, popeye776.
If the answers that butc8 has given you solve the problem, fine. If not, we'll need a little more information.
A) What OS are you running?
B) Which client did you download?
C) How did you install it?
D) If you can find FAHlog.txt and paste it into your next post, it would be very helpful.

Re: Help I'm new
The only configuration question I recall about "asking before..." is connecting to the internet (to upload/download). If you said yes, it's a pain in the butt because you have to jump through hoops to get it to interact with the desktop so you actually get the notice box that it wants to connect.
The most trouble free install is to download the v5.04 console client and accept all of the default configuration settings except answer yes to install as a service. This should give you a totally hands free folding experience 99% of the time. I only run XP, so YMMV (how'd I do, 7im?).
If you every move on to more advanced clients, I recommend getting out of the habit of using Ctrl+Alt+Del to get to the Task Manager. The SMP doesn't like that. Right click the task bar and select Task Manager. Again, I'm assuming some flavor of windows here.

Proud to crash my machines as a Beta Tester!
Re: Help I'm new
The GPU client doesn't like that. As soon as you CTRL-ALT-DEL the DirectX context is lost and the current WU is aborted. (I don't know yet whether the GPU2 client will still have this same problem. It might have been "fixed")uncle fuzzy wrote:If you every move on to more advanced clients, I recommend getting out of the habit of using Ctrl+Alt+Del to get to the Task Manager.
