Project 10005

Post by k1wi »

I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed the major drop in PPD folding the above project 10005?

My PPD from FahMon show:

Code: Select all

Project : 6316
 Core : Gromacs
 Frames : 100
 Credit : 336

 -- command --

 Min. Time / Frame : 11mn 30s - 420.73 ppd
 Avg. Time / Frame : 11mn 44s - 412.36 ppd
 Cur. Time / Frame : 11mn 49s - 409.46 ppd
 R3F. Time / Frame : 11mn 50s - 408.88 ppd
 Eff. Time / Frame : 13mn 23s - 361.52 ppd
Compared with:

Code: Select all

 Project : 10005
 Core : Unknown
 Frames : 100
 Credit : 126

 -- command --

 Min. Time / Frame : 4mn 50s - 375.39 ppd
 Avg. Time / Frame : 9mn 56s - 182.66 ppd
 Cur. Time / Frame : 19mn 52s - 91.33 ppd
 R3F. Time / Frame : 21mn 34s - 84.13 ppd
 Eff. Time / Frame : 10mn 06s - 179.64 ppd

Is this due to the new method of benchmarking? I thought it might have been due to a bonus system being employed for this work unit, but from the psummary this doesn't appear to be the case.

Anyway, I don't mind to much, I'm just interested into whether this was to be expected or not. I may have to turn off advanced methods on my older machines if they can't meet the deadline (although as it's only worth 126 points they should be able to complete within the 4 days 8 hours).

Edit: The computer in question is the dell Optiplex listed first in my additional rigs section of my signature.

Project 10005 is a ProtoMol project. It uses the classic client and does not use the new bonus system (which currently applies only to SMP2 project). I'm not quite sure whether the new benchmarking system applies or not, but somebody should be sure the points and the deadlines are close to other classic client projects.

The deadlines are 4.60 days / 34.48 days. Are you missing both deadlines?

At this point I think I'll still be making the preferred deadline (obviously I always consider that that is my final deadline, for the benefit of the project).

The drop in PPD is quite impressive - 50%. Furthermore, the 6316 project average will include periods where my computer is being run heavily during the day - the 10005 project average has been running overnight without any other workload on it other than baseline services etc...

A different project = different points. That's just the way it is. I'm folding one of those now.

 Cur. Time / Frame : 15mn 31s - 116.93 ppd
 R3F. Time / Frame : 15mn 25s - 117.69 ppd
