Re: Momentum
EOC statistics were around more than 8 years ago ( 05.01.04 ) and it shows the date of your First Record which should be good enough for this poll even though it may not reflect when you actually started folding if your start date predates EOC stats. e.g. The earliest date I see for a Napoleon is 0...

We weren't going to say anything...RMouse wrote:Wow....429,000 WU's completed this week. I average 1 per day. God I'm pathetic.
actually, you're just like the majority of folding donors.

Re: Moving ongoing F@H "work units" to an other PC?
Howdy CasterAnd . Welcome to the Folding Forum. Not sure if moving your HD will help, but here are some things you might try... First, reduce any overclock or bumped voltages. You might even be able to reduce voltage to cpu a bit on some mobos. Second, see if you can adjust your client's "%CPU ...

Re: Folding@Home GPU Comparison Database
Thanks alancabler & P5-133XL for the warm welcome and the info. I am considering to get the GTX 560 Ti, I just like to know what other contender out there with the similar horse power and efficiency. I want to fold but I am also green & green conscious. If you want to optimize GFLOPS/watt, ...

Re: Folding@Home GPU Comparison Database
compdewd, can you add power consumption to your stat? I wanna find the max PPD per watt. Thanks Howdy Hotmit , welcome to the forum. While this may change in future, nVidia cards are more productive, for folding. Here are some more useful links for you and the first link gives processing power/watt...

Re: Beta-GPU-WUs vs. BIG-SMP-WUs
A K9A2 is still viable , PCIe version doesn't matter if the slots are running at x16, Power is a product of what you are running - both cpu and gpu's and all are only as efficent as the PSU you are using, ram speed doesn't matter unless you are running the cpu client as well. CPU doesn't matter as ...

Howdy Old Man,
You picked up a dandy- P10742 really is that big.
Here's a link to the project description.

Re: Beta-GPU-WUs vs. BIG-SMP-WUs
Some things never change... I read arguments about this issue (not so much in this thread) that go something like this: "My expensive rig has been blowing everybody away points wise, but now somebody can make more points than me for less money, so I'm gonna..." While it's true that most of...

Re: How do I set up my Server for Maximun Points
You can always try but I know that you need dual hex xeons that run at over 2.66Ghz. I have a dedicated dual hex xeon 2.66Ghz setup running natively in linux and it's borderline when it comes to P8101 ... i.e. some WUs finish just before the preferred deadline and others don't make it. Running biga...

Re: How do I set up my Server for Maximun Points
Unfortunately those CPUs run @ 2.3Ghz and that's not fast enough to complete some bigadv projects before the preferred deadline even with 24 threads in native Linux. You would have to run regular SMP where your PPD should be somewhere between 30-50K. Not so sure... turbo 2630 is 2.8GHZ and his mach...

Re: How do I set up my Server for Maximun Points
Howdy AAM20007 , Welcome to the f@h support forum. Setup your rig to run SMP 22 (threads) and give each Radeon a slot in v7. Your rig may be powerful enough to run BigAdv w/native Linux (or maybe virtual) according to comparisons of successful Bigadv machines in performance databases: https://docs.g...

Re: Blog post: "Unified GPU/SMP benchmarking scheme ..."
AFAIK, no one on my team has ever publicly made an eloquent, but nevertheless emotional appeal filled with logical fallacies and inconsistencies in order to complain about getting left behind in the points race. To the contrary, an original team member was so far ahead of everyone else that it took ...

Re: Blog post: "Unified GPU/SMP benchmarking scheme ..."
@ KWSN_PToT I came down hard on you earlier and I do apologize. When you think about it, the donors most adversely affected by the increased points of the new unified plan will be those donors who are making a significant contribution to the project with their BigAdv boxes, while running away from t...

Re: Blog post: "Unified GPU/SMP benchmarking scheme ..."
Hi, FAH Folks: I recently purchased a "new" PC based on an AMD A8 with HD 6500 and HD6550D GPUs for all of $158....It's an ugly light lavender colored box, but runs well. I am running this 24/7 since 22 October 2012 on FAH (two GPU tasks, one uniprocessor task and one systray task). How l...
