Yes, first generation iX is the minimum requirement for GPU folding. I'm running an i7 920 and an i7 860 without issues.

Older CPUs (Core 2 Duo / Quad) won't be able to run GPU cores. They lacks SSE 4.2 support that is required.

Docker instances will always have limitations to protect the host and other users on the same host. If you need total control of the hardware, you'll need dedicated hardware.

Use your own hardware if you want to try exotic things.

Did you check the PSU of this machine ?

First thing to do on a folding machine is to disable power saving features.

Check that the WUs aren't expiring ... Anything weaker than a RPi 5 might not make the deadlines.
