Re: Not a problem - I'm just curious - "solved"

we had similar issues in early v8 development. What kick started for me was a separate MS Edge instance, while my default firefox was struggling Unfortunately, from my other thread, I still need to manually pause and start folding every time after the Win11 machine completes a WU. time to switch to...

Re: Not a problem - I'm just curious - "solved"

Well, not really solved - at least in the sense of an underlying problem being fixed. I started using another old laptop running Win10, and was interested to notice that both Win10 machines could see the WU status for all three of my FAH machines. That is, they could see themselves, each other, and...

Re: Work Units not starting automatically?

When you pause struggling device, it resets the delay counter. So that's why it picks up WU straight away I don't know what you mean by "struggling". This machine was doing just fine, picking up WUs just like my lower-powered (in CPU terms) Win 10 machines, until a week or so ago - about ...

Re: Work Units not starting automatically?

I'm finding the same thing on my Windows 11 machine, starting about a week ago. The two Windows 10 machines seem to be just fine. In detail: 1. WU completes 2. Progress bar is red, and log fills up with a series of messages: 04:56:26:I1:WU644:Requesting WU assignment for user Malkie team 0 04:56:26...

Re: Not a problem - I'm just curious

In each individual machine, go to the cog looking icon, and see if the chain link looking icon does not look broken. You can hover over it and tool tip will pop up saying if that particular machine is linked to the account or not. You want it to be linked. Keep in mind changes only can show up if y...

Re: Not a problem - I'm just curious

Thanks, folks, for your comments and pointers. There's a more fundamental problem here, and if anyone is at fault (though I don't believe anyone really is) it's me. [[There have been times in the past couple of decades when family & colleagues have leaned on my for help with PC/Windows issues, a...

Thanks, jeffmr4. When I click my avatar on each machine, I see a blue "Logout" button. I'm assuming that means I must be logged in.

Re: Not a problem - I'm just curious

You don’t see machine 2 because it is not connected to the api and/or node servers. Check its log for errors. Make sure all system clocks are correct, with a correct time zone. Also possible that the client is not running. But machine 2 has a task running, and on machine 2 I see the status lines in...

Not a problem - I'm just curious

First my BIG news: Rank 124,993 - I think this is the first time I've hit less than 125K. OK - simmer down, everyone - no need for us all to get excited at the same time :) I have two machines running on the same home network, both on this release of FAH: 1. a Win11Home machine with Ryzen 5 3400G - ...

Re: fah-client 8.4.9: HTTP_SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE ("No appropriate assignment")?

If I suspect that my machine is subjectively slow due to FAH, I simply pause the CPU WU. So far it seems that there must be something else going on, because pausing that WU doesn't make any difference. On my main rig running Linux, I find that the only thing that really gets tripped up is my integr...

Re: fah-client 8.4.9: HTTP_SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE ("No appropriate assignment")?

I'm just happy that my machine can be doing something useful much of the time, now that I understand that, due to reasons beyond my control, there may be long periods of time when it is waiting for a suitable WU. I've allocated 3 of 8 CPUs and the GPU to FAH. Sometimes I have 1 WU running with 2 or ...
