Well, I might also be confabulating beta with official launch timing.
Wish I could confirm the timing by looking back at the original post...oh snap.

Re: Change in BA requirements
Q: What about Core i7 chips with 8 virtual cores? A: In our testing, these have been found somewhat marginal for completing work within the target deadlines (ideally 3 days per WU). If you have a fast Core i7 that is a dedicated folder, feel free to give it a try. If you're doing a lot of other thi...

Re: Change in BA requirements
OK you might say, but what does your vendetta on communication, transparency, and accountability have to do with the specific topic? We are tired of hearing about how you think open communication would avoid these situations. Well, from memory, I can explain in concrete terms how it applies. :!: Whe...

Re: Change in BA requirements
Why shouldn't bruce, or any other user, be allowed to have and voice a positive opinion? Surely any debate about 'flaws' and 'failures' should allow comment from people who feel like there 'aren't any?'. yup, no problem with that! But after that, just explaining what I see as a legitimate cause of ...

Re: Change in BA requirements
ow I have to ask myself how much of those 5 pages consists of people repeating themselves and how much is actual new ideas from folks who had not posted. Yes, it has been a mixture, of course, but it seems to be migrating more and more toward repetition. Yes, nothing I wrote above is a new idea or ...

Re: Change in BA requirements
Well, again just for perspective: Bruce attempts to explain and "defend" the current system. When we are discussing failures, or flaws in the current system, this can become counterproductive. Attaching personal blame is likewise counterproductive. What needs to be addressed is the structu...

Re: Change in BA requirements
It's clear that that expectation hasn't been communicated well and without that, I can see how donors would be upset, and that makes me worried that the bigadv experiment has been handled poorly on our part. Moreover, from these posts, I am also worried that it is just intrinsically difficult for u...

Re: New Guy with loads of questions...
hen if i remove the SLI both will be working on the same WU. No then you will have three programs, one on each GPU, and one on the CPU. Complex I know, but due to the lag in communications across the PCIE , things just get done way faster if the calculations stay on the processor as much as ...

Re: New Guy with loads of questions...
I worry about missing a deadline as I would need a GPU during the day. If you find this a problem, set the GPU to "finish" in the evening. Then, it will be shut down when you want to use it in the day without interrupting a WU in progress (my card finishes in about 4 hours, YMMV...8hours?...

Re: New Guy with loads of questions...
No, they are running separate programs optimized for them.
People tend to notice GPU lag immediately, and the program(gpu client) really only has two speeds, on or off.
Hence, anything other than full tends to pause the GPU client.

Re: New Guy with loads of questions...
Is there a way to tell how well the CPU and GPU are doing (OC tweaking related)? no need to OC beyond your normal stable configuration...monitoring with your normal tools will indicate 100% load on CPU and GPU. due to this continuous load, you might want to check that your temperatures stay in a saf...

Re: Change in BA requirements
well, I've seen other threads die and go unanswered for years... Macaholic listed a few of them. I even pointed out some very cogent suggestions from a recent one...If you notice, there was no response in that thread from PG and the thread died. I agree with your general thoughts...it just has not h...

Re: Change in BA requirements
well, good point, but no response since your post on the 20th indicates that PG is not interested in a direct dialog(prompt anyway).
Just an observation, not speaking for PG.

and now for something completely different. :!: I came to the conclusion that we were usually hired for unique bespoke problems that no one ever saw before. If you were thinking within the context of one model, you couldn't solve this new problem. But if you examined it through multiple models at th...

Re: Change in BA requirements
unfortunately, he's not joking. What he is pointing out is the current state of affairs. When met with a difficult series of choices regarding points... PG has consistently reverted to the "no action at this time" choice. In another words, since they don't have a "perfect" soluti...
