Re: fah-client 8.4.9: HTTP_SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE ("No appropriate assignment")?
For me, one reason to not use the CPU is the fan noise. Using CPU made the system very noisy. Using GPU made the system quiet and let me still contribute to FAH. Dell Inspiron 3668 desktop, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (2 GB). Win10 Home, system is...

Re: What are these red 'Assign Wait' items?
Thanks! The last explanation was helpful. My CPU just acquired a WU and started folding again. Back to normal. Guess there was just a temporary shortage of WUs compatible with my CPU.

Re: What are these red 'Assign Wait' items?
For my CPU, the WU shows an Assign Wait error with a red progress bar. The machine log shows entries like 20:42:25:I1:WU308:Requesting WU assignment for user Markhl team 66457 20:42:25:I1:OUT30:> POST https://assign6.foldingathome.org/api/assign HTTP/1.1 20:42:25:I1:OUT30:< HTTP/1.1 503 HTTP_SERVICE...

Re: Only 60% of WUs are Credited
Agree that FAH should always resume from the last checkpoint. I expect FAH and other volunteer computing projects to checkpoint fairly often, every hour or so. When I shut down, I expect to lose work since the last checkpoint. But not to lose the whole WU! The great Web Control interface on v8 made ...

Re: Only 60% of WUs are Credited
Thanks for the discussion! I will continue to Pause and then to wait a minute before shutdown. I see fewer lost WUs when I do that. How many other users or devices does this issue affect? What percentage of all FAH WUs are being lost at shutdown?

Only 60% of WUs are Credited
I have been running FAH since 2022 on a Dell desktop bought in 2018. In January, I started running version 8.4.9. FAH uses two CPUs and a GPU. I shut the PC down each night and sometimes pause FAH to reduce surges in CPU fan noise. Is this setup OK for FAH? I just checked my Work Units at https://v8...

Using Intel HD Graphics 630 GPU and temperature
I have done other distributed computing projects and am now supporting FAH. Some noob questions! I have a Dell Inspiron 3668 desktop running Win10 Home. FAH is using my CPU and my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 GPU. A: It is not using my Intel HD Graphics 630 GPU. The log says: 00:32:58:WARNING:FS01:Guessi...
