Re: Computer seems to be running two FAH!
Well, there it is... Found fahcliente under /etc/ and renamed the config_bak.xml and the CPU usage began dropping to 50%. TOP reports only one instance of FAH running - strangely enough it reports the root instance running and not the user ??? Very weird. i'll turn it back on and let the WU complete...

Re: Computer seems to be running two FAH!
Thanks, Joe_H ! i really appreciate your chiming in and trying to help. i don't know how to uninstall. i suppose one of these is located under "/" and all i need to do is to delete the folder(s). i'll try that first and report back - actually if i just rename them first to test the theory ...

Computer seems to be running two FAH! [SOLVED]
We've got a Ryzen 5 with 8 cores on PCLinuxOS and the little program called gKrellm reports 95% CPU usage (as well as 81 degree C). When i use the client and stop folding, the CPU usage decreases to around 50%. So i used TOP to see what processes were running and it reports FahCore?a8 used by root. ...

Re: CPU has been around 88 C
Thanks for replying! You know i see that gKrellm shows all 8 cores being used at 100%. It's running at 78 C so i'm not too worried as per your comments but i am kind of weirded out because like you say, it should be just using 4 cores and it's not.
Have happy evening and please stay safe!

Here's a little bit of the log 14:31:46:******************************* System ******************************** 14:31:46: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3400G with Radeon Vega Graphics 14:31:46: CPU ID: AuthenticAMD Family 23 M...

Re: CPU has been around 88 C [SOLVED]
Might as well use this same thread... i've noticed that F@H is using the 8 cores of this Ryzen 5, which is alright, but it's using the full 100%! So the temps are back up close to 80 C. The Web Client only reports Low so who knows what's happening. Is there a configuration file where we can see how ...

Re: CPU has been around 88 C
Well, we took the machine apart and cleaned the CPU and applied new paste. Seems to be running @ 72 C now, which i think is better than before and our CPU use @ what appears to be 50% or so as reported by our gKrellm program. So, we're gonna mark this as solved and send a great big hug to you guys a...

Re: System running hot
Wow. What a quick reply! Thanks guys. i especially appreciate the answer from promeneur although our PCLinuxOS system does not use systemend so, as much as i'd like to use his solution, it looks like we're going to have to try Bruce's. i also just learned that apparently "threads" also mea...

System running hot
We' re running PCLinuxOS, fully updated. This is a Toshiba P75 P7200 which seems to fold really great even at the lowest level. Wow. However for over a year now we've notice that our power supply gets really hot and a couple of weeks ago just stopped working. We finally got another one and in the me...

Re: CPU has been around 88 C
Wow! Thanks, guys! You guys are fast - lol i'll try the heatsink clean and new paste. The fan says AMD and for some reason or another i can't get the fan RPM from gKrellm program. Any recommendations on a better fan? We pretty much use ebay... In fact that's where i'm goingo to look for the paste. R...

CPU has been around 88 C
Hello and happy to still be here... and folding! Our machine is a B450 AORUS M with a Ryzen and we've been happily folding on it since we got it and learned how to install and run FAH. We're running under PCLinuxOS, fully updated but in the last 6 mo. or so the temps have been steadily rising from a...

What do you think about this... Seasonic CORE GX-550, 550W 80+ Gold Full-Modular, Fan Control in Silent and Cooling Mode My unit is a Linkworld, not a Pinkworld - lol. And, it looks like it's rate @ 300w. Have a great evening and stay safe! :) P.S. The 500w unit comes with a $15.00 U.S. rebate card....
