Re: Temperature/GPU Usage unstable; drops align with checkpo
What are your complete system specs? Here; but no HDD - just a Gen 3.1 USB stick running kubuntu: I've checked my CPU and RAM usage (CPU: Ryzen 5 3500X. 2 cores at 100% for the GPU threads, other 4 cores are idle. RAM: 3.3GB of 7.7GB Used [During folding], no fluctuation). If your concern is the te...

Re: Temperature/GPU Usage unstable; drops align with checkpo
Well, if we can't go on holiday right now, at least our GPUs can! I'll see how the SSD fares. Yes it's quite a farce what's happened to the GPU market. I managed to grab a pair of fairly (?) well priced 3070s from a store and as soon as I bought them, they raised the price $200 for the next batch. W...

Re: Temperature/GPU Usage unstable; drops align with checkpo
Thanks Neil, I've checked my CPU and RAM usage (CPU: Ryzen 5 3500X. 2 cores at 100% for the GPU threads, other 4 cores are idle. RAM: 3.3GB of 7.7GB Used, no fluctuation). The only thing I can think of is that my HDD is a USB 3.1 stick. I am noticing in my System Monitor that during checkpointing th...

Re: Temperature/GPU Usage unstable; drops align with checkpo
Thanks for the welcome Jimbo, and for the tip about the checkpoint flag.
I'm currently folding on a 980ti as well - that card folds with both temperature and GPU as a steady line. Should I be concerned about this fluctuation on the 3070s?

Temperature/GPU Usage unstable; drops align with checkpoints
OS: Kubuntu 18.04 LTS FAHClient: 7.6.21 Nvidia Driver: 460.39 Folding for a few hours on my 3070 yields the following trend in the GPU temperature: https://i.imgur.com/q4i3kUB.png And GPU utilisation https://i.imgur.com/DhbMUX9.png Each dip corresponds to the checkpoint session. Even though I have ...

Re: Run multiple instances of FAHClient on same linux comput
Thank you Whompithian! I think I've got it working (you gave me the confidence that it was possible). I had a little dig around my kubuntu setup to try and emulate your structure. Here's what I've done: 1) Went to `/etc/fahclient/` and made 2 config files (gpu1.conf and gpu2.conf) with relevant user...

Re: Run multiple instances of FAHClient on same linux comput
Thanks for the reply. Well, with a bit of fiddling, I managed to get 2 versions of FAH to run independently with different slots and config info [on windows]. More or less, it involves changing the config.xml file in each respective FAH repository to customise slots and user info, then running the F...

Run multiple instances of FAHClient on same linux computer
Following on from an ancient discussion here https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=11372 , a user asks if it's possible to run 2 local clients on 1 computer. The answer comes here https://web.archive.org/web/20160315165828/http://fahwiki.net/index.php/FAH_%26_SMP#Running_Multiple_Clients...
