Re: [Feature request] Average temp on slots.
F@H really should take a page from the crypto programs and actually display useful basic information to the user when something goes wrong. Is it that easy to define what is "wrong"? Absolute temperatures may be very relative - what's normal for a PC with a good cooling system might be te...

Re: [Feature request] Average temp on slots.
Not sure how "average temp per slot" could work - you'd have one temperature reading per GPU, and a single temperature reading per CPU socket (for all its cores, together), right? That is indeed good data to keep your eye on, but I'd suggest you find a widget for your system that shows thi...

Re: Zero CPUs set, CPU slot running
I see the separation between forum and Github issue tracker like this - one does not replace the other: The forum is great for posting if you're not sure if it's a bug in the client, a temporary glitch on work units, or a configuration mistake of yours. But once it gets confirmed that it looks like ...

Re: v8 containers
Well, I wanted to test it so I had a need for a container, and wanted to share that. Feel free not to use them.
The Folding@home project has been announcing the v8 client as beta since Jan 24th.

v8 containers
Great to see an open-source client!!
As there seem to be no official containers yet, I adapted the v7 Dockerfiles for CPU and GPU/Nvidias together with instructions about running with rootless podman:

Re: Running folding at home on thread ripper
There's a subtle difference here: I'd also recommend to "keep it on", that is, do not deactivate it in the BIOS and keep it available . But when you actually run work units for Folding@home or other computation, use as many processes as you have real cores (not threads). Usually that will ...

Re: Linux desktop or server?
Do you mean: "I want to install a Linux distribution and they provide both a server and a desktop package; which one shall I choose?" Usually the server package contains a subset of the desktop package. It will be perfectly sufficient for running FAHClient over SSH. If you want a graphical...
