Re: Waiting for work on 192.0.2.1 ?
Hello. I have the very same issue since today, with a nvidia P106-90 under unbuntu 20.04,it worked just fine until now. I reinstalled fahclient, with reset of config file, then reinstalled nvidia-driver-440, made a reboot, but it doesn't seem to work, still stuck with 192.0.2.1 assignement. 17:38:27...

Re: Any recommendations for inexpensive secondhand GPUs?
Yup, no memory leak.bruce wrote:That's the way it's supposed to work.
But unlike what I initially though, 4GB of ram is not always enough
So I'll upgrade the ram sooner than expected, even if not mandatory.

Re: Any recommendations for inexpensive secondhand GPUs?
If your system is folding unattended, typing 'sudo init 3' in a terminal will close your gui, and save a few hundred megabytes (150 for the lightweight Lubuntu, more for bigger releases). If you're mainly GPU folding, having exactly matched ram doesn't matter so much. You could easily add 2GB of sl...

Re: Any recommendations for inexpensive secondhand GPUs?
The CPU chart shown by Sparky here would be instructive, but you need to add the columns for PF Delta and Commit size as well as the ones for Working Set. That'll tell you how busy your paging file is. Thanks, I indeed noticed all FAH WU are not the same in terms of required RAM. Same for BOINC, it...

Re: Any recommendations for inexpensive secondhand GPUs?
Meh, crashed this morning, but I think I see why, I though 4GB of ram would be plenty enough, but seem it's not, so I created a huge swap/exchange file, and it already host 1GB of data. Maybe I should have stick to my initial plan of 8GB ram  If the swap solves the problem but appear to notice...

Re: Any recommendations for inexpensive secondhand GPUs?
Yay, it works, managed to set up the network monitoring so I can monitor the rig through my local FAH control. https://imgshare.io/images/2020/06/30/image.md.png Some more tests and I'll put the rig to its place, and then wait for the rubber pads to come (To lower vibrations, even if still ok for no...

Re: Any recommendations for inexpensive secondhand GPUs?
The 1050 Ti and 1650 are pretty close in terms of performance. The 1650 Super is a small step up (about 50% faster) than the 1050 Ti, but only a few percent faster than a GTX 1060 (P106-90). It wouldn't be a big upgrade. If I were you, I'd test that 106p on both the PCIE 3.0 and 2.0 ports, and when...

Re: Any recommendations for inexpensive secondhand GPUs?
That system sounds like a good match, even for an RTX 2060 or 2060KO! Just check if it has PCIE 2.0 or 3.0, and how many PCIE ports it has at what speeds. PCIE 2.0 x8 or 3.0 x4 ports are fast enough for everything (excluding a 2080 Ti) for Linux. PCIE 2.0 x4 ports are fast enough for GTX GPUs (or l...

Re: Any recommendations for inexpensive secondhand GPUs?
Trying to minimize the amount of e-waste, I plan to keep the HDD as long as it works properly (aka doesn't reduce the PPDs too much). But if I replace it, of course it'll be for a SSD. Bought a Athlon 200GE on eBay and a GA-A320M-S2H motherboard + 4GB 2666MHz ram (the highest ram frequency this CPU ...

Re: Any recommendations for inexpensive secondhand GPUs?
I though about that, buying like a RTX 2060 to replace my GTX 1660, but too pricy, so I'll stick to GTX 1660 for gaming and buy a GTX 1650 Super for folding rig :-( (And the P106-90, of course) I think I'll first buy my upgrade kit (Athlon 200GE, MB, 4GB ram), plug the P106 on it and call it my fold...

Re: Any recommendations for inexpensive secondhand GPUs?
I don't agree, the main benefit of the 1650 Super, to me, is not the ram but to have much more CUDA cores (So much more PPDs too) compared to the regular 1650. The 1650 SUPER is not an improved 1650 btw, but a slightly downsised 1660 (same chip). GTX 1650 DDR6: 896 CUDA cores @1410MHz base (1590 boo...

Re: Any recommendations for inexpensive secondhand GPUs?
IT WORKS! \o/ http://tof.cx/images/2020/06/17/5619f7c097e6dc96941636bb64c060ad.th.png It does bottleneck though, around 150k PPD while it should more be around 200k but at least it works! Finally X'D Now, I must decide if I keep it that way (P106-90 on PC riser in my main PC next to my GTX 1660) or ...

Re: Any recommendations for inexpensive secondhand GPUs?
Second P106-90 landed yesterday, I should get my hands on it soon (maybe Monday).
I hope this one will works
For the amount of power the 4x populated 16x slot can carry, I just asked the question to gigabyte directly, wait and see
