Re: HOWTO: Use FAH v8 Resource Groups for individual slot-like control
Updated instructions for FAH v8.3.1: 'Resource Groups' can be setup like FAH v7 'slots' on a local PC to partition your resources. In the Settings for the machine: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53451612387_7b2c3ca537_o.png Resource Groups can be added with a name: https://live.staticflickr.com...

Re: Zero CPUs set, CPU slot running
It looks like for FAH v8.1.18, setting CPU=0 (instead of CPU=1) in the settings for GPU folding works to fix the issue (and not download a CPU WU) https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-client-bastet/assets/20870053/1a82db55-2428-42b7-80fd-e0e2ae933dcf https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-client-baste...

I created this issue on GitHub: https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-cl ... issues/144 to make posting the larger log files and images easier. Let me know if you need other log files.

Re: Zero CPUs set, CPU slot running
I can confirm this has been happening all this week with v8.1.18 (with RG, and no CPU folding) on (5) PCs (Linux, or Win10) with 1-2 GPUs each, trying to do GPU-only folding. You end up dumping many CPU WUs and restarting FAHv8 every day just to get GPU WUs eventually, since doing CPU folding with 1...

Re: What do the numbers mean after GPU?
Also, in the FAHv7 log files, the startup *** System *** message says what the 3 numbers are for the GPU. Example: 12:49:30: GPU 0: Bus:4 Slot:0 Func:0 NVIDIA:8 GA102 [GeForce RTX 3080 Lite Hash Rate] ... 12:49:30:FS00:Initialized folding slot 00: gpu:4:0 GA102 [GeForce RTX 3080 Lite Hash Rate] Slot...

Re: What do the numbers mean after GPU?
If it's Folding, then it's probably OK. You can see the actual value being used, if you want to check it: open up the Device Manager in Windows, expand the 'Display Adapters' section, right-click properties on a video card, click the 'Details' tab, and select 'Bus Number' from the Properties List. Y...

Re: What do the numbers mean after GPU?
The number directly after the GPU is the PCIe bus number from the PC's motherboard. The zeros are probably similar, like PCI slot info, or they might be placeholders if they are unused. I didn't look at the code, but that used to be part of the slot information in the FAHv7 config file.

Re: Suggestion - indicate failed tasks
I mentioned something similar here in GitHub: Issue #53 and added a link to your post.
Currently, with the web interface you can view the log file, and filter to see Errors or Warnings (check boxes in the upper-right of the log viewer)

Re: Where did the file size go?
It probably has not been implemented yet in the new beta software. Thanks for the reminder about it.
I have added a GitHub issue for it: Logging: display file transfer sizes, if you would like to monitor the progress or help out with it.

Re: Multiple GPUs and CPUs?
The main Resource Group (without a name) will display the log file data for all the Resource Groups. I typically leave it there like that, but you can use the main Resource Group if you want to. I like the log data labeled with which Resource Group it is in (otherwise you get :: and :/RG1:, instead ...

HOWTO: Use FAH v8 Resource Groups for individual slot-like control
FAH v8 has 'Resource Groups', that can be setup like FAH v7 'slots' on a local PC to partition your resources. https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/20870053/217842129-ae0149ba-a2c5-4078-94c3-d4f09bcf4178.png In the configuration settings, Resource Groups can be added with a forward slash "...

Re: Default using all CPUs seems flawed
Until it gets fixed, you could setup Resource Groups to have separate 'Slot'-like behavior for your CPU and GPU, see GitHub Issue #52 for more info about enabling it.

Re: Graphic problem with the client and Firefox on Mint 21.1
I have 4 PCs with Mint 21.1 and Firefox 108.0.1 and another one just I updated to Firefox 109. The icons seem OK to me. Maybe try to refresh the page without the cache (CTRL+F5, or CTRL+SHIFT+R). If you need it for Linux: starting, restarting, and stopping the FAH service (and where log files are st...

Re: GPU Alzheimers Project takes all CPU cores
For better WU controls in FAHv8, you can create the FAHv7 'slot' behavior with 'Resource Groups' in v8. Please see the info about enabling Resource Groups in Issue 52 on GitHub. This will allow you to make 1 CPU thread and 1GPU in one resource group, and how ever many CPU threads left you want in a ...
