Re: Configuring GPU

Note; old information at https://web.archive.org/web/20131022203 ... tOfGPUsTxt (information which would not make explicit e.g. my 5770 not being supported due to no DP whereas a 5830+ is, so how relevant that information still is remains to be seen...)

Re: new

Yes. Judging by awarded credits, GPUs capable of double precision OpenCL seem to be about 10 to 40 times as efficient at folding as the CPU is.

Re: Web control with headless server?

Please see if this recent thread helps: viewtopic.php?f=61&t=33419 EDIT: Oh, and focussing on the headless bit more, Jesse_V's advise should be directly applicable and my follow-up you can then in fact do via the FAHControl interface, but it's also no more involved than additionally adding e.g. ...

Re: Points not properly credited?

Yes. I'm actually fairly certain that I've lost a few jobs along the way, but we're in any case basically DDoS-ing F@h; it tends to work out, even if some jobs might take up to a few hours to in fact register in your statistics.

Re: Configuring GPU

Yes, as to the open-source bit, sure, I can sort of see some of the reasoning behind this particular instance possibly being a slighty less standard "security through obscurity" mechanism than is normal for closed-source, and thanks for commenting, and while I wouldn't find myself to be an...

Re: Configuring GPU

If there's by the way anyone who could fix the "For technical details" link at viewtopic.php?t=26208 then this would be great. I.e., while it's stated everywhere that GPUs.txt is both a white- and blacklist I can't any information about exactly how it is such anywhere. Searching for that a...

Re: Configuring GPU

Don't seem to see DP or not specified at e.g. https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/r ... -5770.c250

But bringing that thing online was basically just for the fun of it anyway; shall be retiring it again.

Re: Configuring GPU

For the next poor sod that hits on this thread trying to get his AMD HD 5770 or more generally HD 5000 series card folding: after (on Debian/Ubuntu/Mint/...) - installing ocl-icd-libopencl1, ocl-icd-opencl-dev and mesa-opencl-icd - creating a file /etc/default/fahclient consisting of "USER=root...

It is. Darn; that means I get to debug OpenCL on an ancient AMD chip on Linux. Thanks :(

If you want all of them to fold as the same donor, yes.

Re: Running F@H on a server

... and you can also in fact open up the web-interface for remote access. For that, you on the server in Advanced Control -> Configure -> Expert add a new client option "web-allow" with value again e.g. "10.0.0.0/8 127.0.0.1". I believe I've noticed that that option must be space...

Re: Configuring GPU

I'm very new to FAHClient, and not so much to Linux :-)

Very good to know that it now works. If you can, please let me/us know if the GPU slot now also in fact picks up WUs; if it does, I'll take that "clGetDeviceIDs() returned -1" thing that I myself had more seriously...
