Re: Project 13424 (Moonshot) very low PPD

There was a difference for the CPU folding, but none for the GPU folding. Well the difference with CPU is not just a difference, it rather looks like different hardware ... The good is, I can take out "CPU boost" under Linux, to lower heat and noise, and the R5_3600 on Linux has sti...

Re: Project 13424 (Moonshot) very low PPD

With a 2060S erlier I got nearly 85% of PPD running it at 120W compared to full power. What OS? With Linux I can confirm just something around of -4-6% by setting the power to lowest limit for GTX 1660 (Ti) & RTX 2060. And on top, the cards are achieving same PPD with that power cap on Linux, a...

Re: ARM CPUs

Well, if you fear that you shouldn't bring that client easy available public for download. It was even in the press, that F@H is going to support ARM hardware ... I just let one WU finish to fold on the RPi3, as I don't see much sense in folding 500 PPD. Maybe there are ARM CPUs out there, able to d...

Re: ARM CPUs

... whilst you didn't write it was still running, neither did you explicitly write that it was no longer running :) Hmm, I'm not nativ english, but "Tested" is past ... ? Perhaps in future someone might look at possibly putting pre Public Beta clients behind access controls or utilise ano...

Re: ARM CPUs

Please turn off the ARM client. There are still problems associated with the ARM client and folding. When they are ready, then there will be an official announcement from the Folding@home Consortium for a beta test. Until then they are still working through some problems, people jumping the gun are...

Re: ARM CPUs

Tested that ARM FAHClient on one of my Raspberry 3 (64bit), it does work/run ... the heatsink I put on all of the RPi does get hot, damn hot, I tested with an opened case.

The runtime of a WU was roughly 5 days and the resulting output is ~500 PPD ... so, really nothing for short term folding ... ^^

Re: P13418 (224, 113, 0) - 23m ppd

Thankfully I got a few of those "generous" WUs, they kind of leveled those sitting duck 117xx WUs, my gear still constantly receives.

If I would think something evil, I would imagine, they got dropped / dumped in other gears by purpose and this series does therefor still exist ...

Monitored my gear and its logs, no "special generous" WU anymore after my post and your reaction here.

Re: P13418 (224, 113, 0) - 23m ppd

Hi, can confirm those "strange" high values with any GTX 1660, thanks guys, I really appreciate. But I guess that wasn't really purpose, or?

This is radical opposite to 13416, not in little, rather in a massive manner...

Re: Too much noise - Undervolt?

Instead of playing with close to HW values, I rather lower the power cap of the cards by using "nvidia-smi". Check instance number of your card using "nvidia-smi" with root, sudo, Administrator rights. My "GTX 1660 TI" has e.g. a (max) power limit by factory of "(-...

Re: Shortage of GPU work again?

Yes, PRCG 13416 and all 117xx WUs are causing a drop in PPD. Especially with 117xx WUx I can see an overall drop of solid 30% monitored over a couple of days now.

They are even worse to the already discussed PRCG 13416 ... where I could confirm a longer term drop of "just" 15% over all.

Re: Shortage of GPU work again?

Hi,

any update here? Found my GPUs in a row doing almost nothing, since 2 days, just occasional 17200, 117xx ... rare spots here and there.

If there's nothing to do anymore and you have all of your results, I stop FAH client on my gear ... :D

Re: WU 13416 low ppd long run time

Same observations, 13416 (1297, 133, 1) for example - PPD is lower than usual by about 25%. That can be the worst case for one single Job/WU and GPU ... I also have seen a drop in average PPD for my bunch of Turing GTX GPUs, since they just get 13416 the last days. But in longer term monitoring its...

@JohnChodera

Thanks for that perspective. Was already wondering about the "undervalued cucumber" WUs my gear is picking up the last days ... ^^

Being patient for the next wave, but my gear is not limited to COVID-19, thanks.

Re: 3.133.76.19

@G3WGV Your firewall setting or not, that specific server 3.133.76.19 just sucks. I have no harsh firewall restrictions and am connected with a very fast and reliable connection. My bunch of folding servers have absolutely no issues with down- or uploads, any final FAH result file is uploaded with e...
