I did not install any of this, but it seems to be working anyway (see post above). Is there any reason I still should?ipkh wrote: Make sure to include any nvidia-xxx-compute packages as well.

Re: Setting up two GTX 550 Ti on Ubuntu 18.04
It appears to be working! I think folding on a GTX 550 Ti is possible! What I did after the steps above: * ran nvidia-smi, which failed and instructed me to install nividia-340 * installed nividia-340 * rebooted * removed existing GPU slots * added new GPU slots with -1 I'll give confirmation after ...

Setting up two GTX 550 Ti on Ubuntu 18.04
This was a stretch goal for getting all my old cards working. I've heard mixed messages about whether the nVidia GTX 550 Ti is too old to fold or not: The GTX 550 Ti is in the list of supported GPUs since is does support double precision computation. From: viewtopic.php?f=80&t=33320&p=318290...

Any danger in a (possibly slightly) broken GPU?
I have an older nVidia card that I used to run SLI with another like it. If I recall correctly, this card at some point developed some intermittent artifacting problems. It still appeared to render everything 3D correctly, but on the screen there would be times when the colors would get kinda screwe...

Is that a sure thing? How/where can I check?kostuek wrote:If it's working, there is surely no reason to install another one. The problem with the GTX 550 is it does not support OpenCL 1.2, so it will probably not work.

Re: Need help with Ubuntu 18.04 and GTX 960
Questions for trying to get my GTX 550 Ti working alongside my GTX 960: (1) First off, how can I determine whether this hardware is even compatible? (2) Assuming it is, once I plop it into the PCI slot, do I need to install its drivers? How does installing drivers for different GPUs in Ubuntu work? ...

Re: Need help with Ubuntu 18.04 and GTX 960
ocl-icd-opencl-dev installed, and now it's working!!
Is there any reason I should also install ocl-icd-libopencl1 ? Would that make my GTX 550 work?
That's my next step here--to try and get the 550 working.

I did install based on other threads. I also searched for just now, but Ubuntu didn't find it.

Need help with Ubuntu 18.04 and GTX 960
I have an old rig I want to set up with Ubuntu, and it's got an nVidia GTX 960. A stretch goal for this rig is to also include an old GTX 550 Ti. So far, I can't even get started with the 960. Steps so far: (1) Installed Ubuntu fresh with the 960 already installed, without the 550 (2) added drivers ...

How is "idle" actually defined?
Running Windows 10. Does idle only mean a set amount of time since the OS got any mouse or keyboard input? Is that a setting I can configure somewhere in Windows?
Or does it mean something else?
