Re: RTX 2080ti vs 2060, which one to buy?
I'm sure there are some PPD databases or charts somewhere but you can get 1080 TIs for $300-$450 if you are patient on eBay. Should net you 1.4M-1.5M PPD each. Play your cards right and you could have 3 1080 TI (3.5 PPD) for the price of a 2080 TI (2.2M PPD). I picked up three 1080 TIs myself, when...

Re: WU's not being send to work server 3.*
@lazyacevw, Can you try stopping your client entirely and restarting the program to ensure it retries again on startup? Please post an update if it fails. Thanks! I restarted the computer yesterday but it didn't work. I went to try a service restart but as I was about to do so, the upload cleared r...

Re: 13400 assigned to GPUs that are way too slow
If you are running stock settings, I guess the devs need to figure out a way to blacklist less powerful GPUs to avoid waste. All of my WU's so far today are 7 hour tasks on my 1080TIs. Not blacklisting or making them beta tasks will just cause the WUs to time out on less powerful GPUs.

Re: 13400 assigned to GPUs that are way too slow
I like the larger/longer projects. Keeps the GPUs gainfully employed and reduces the number of connection requests to the work and collection servers.

Re: AMD 7950 3GB Linux Mint 19.3 no open cl
I run Mint on all of my CPU/Nvidia folding rigs. Tried to build an AMD GPU rig and quit after two days of fighting it. I think the key is finding an older version of AMD's official drivers that have OpenCL and that will work. Sadly, I'll just have to install Windows for now.

Re: Ryzen 9 3900X @ 97C
I'm using Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia 5.6.3 and "sensors" command to watch temps. I am curious about your temps because Ryzen will start to throttle at 95C. Double check temps with HWinfo64 or Ryzen Master. My 3950X has a NH-D15 with AM4 mounting kit. I used Ryzen Master with AutoOverclock +200...

Re: 13400 assigned to GPUs that are way too slow
Do you have your 310 or 660 set to client-type advanced? If so, you might want to remove them. Not sure but looks like 13400 is a beta task. My 1080 TI is 4 min 60 sec per fold, so about 6 or 7 hours.

Re: Do PCI-E lanes affect folding performance?
At work, we have always used TightVNC for Linux remote desktop. It's pretty much the industry default for Linux from what I have seen. They even have a Windows client so you can remote from Windows into your Linux boxes.
You might play around with TightVNC or TigerVNC and see how it goes!

Re: how about enabling TLS on your Assignment Servers?
nothing in this world is "free". using server CPU to encrypt data costs power and achieves what exactly? this data has no value to any other party. in twenty years there has never been an attack or attempt to steal data. you are asking for a feature that has no benefit whatsoever and woul...

Re: Do you need help?
Good Morning, I would like to throw in my 2 cents here, I know my post may not hold much weight as it's my first ever post. However, I've never needed to post before, Folding@Home has always just worked for me. I have skimmed a majority of this thread although I will admit I have skipped a few post...

Re: Can I use 2 different GPUs at once?
I could see that being the case. I've spun up 4 Linux Mint based folding machines without much issue. When I tried to build a 8 GPU Windows based rig, I almost threw it against the wall. Still working out the kinks with that one. Another small reason for everyone to give Linux a try! (as if increase...

Re: Server did not like results, dumping
Great background info! I knew there was a good reason why smaller projects like rosetta@home only have CPU based workloads. The task of making the programming side of it work is absolutely complex and will forever need tending to keep running smoothly. The company I work for has some custom built so...

Re: Can I use 2 different GPUs at once?
FWIW, I just dropped in a Titan XP alongside my 1080TI, added the slot, and I was good to go (a Linux system). No risk in setting the current tasks to Finish however and just waiting for them to complete before the the upgrade.
