They'll gladly accept that $100 donation right now, and any more on the project's Donation page. Get your donation in before the end of the year to be sure it is applied to this year's tax return (in the US). Stanford is a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity and thus a donation of money is tax deductible, i...

Re: Single-Slot Low Profile GPU for Folding - GeForce GT 730
For those with low profile GPU upgrade needs, they recently released a Pascal based NV 1050 Ti LP. 75w so no external connecter, but it does require dual slot space. Sorry this wouldn't work for the OP.

Just a note that FAH is not the only application where the AMDGPU-PRO driver isn't working for OpenCL. Also an interesting article in general in regards to performance.

Re: Not a geek - questions!
FAH does not modify any files outside of it's own Data and Program folder. And as noted above, FAH only communicates with specific servers, files are hashed so cannot be modified in route, and the FAH client is only available from one source so no one can hack the client. FAH is basically a web brow...

Re: A Few Random Questions
I do not know what promotes the suspicion that distributed computing projects are secretly mining coins instead of trying to cure some of the most common diseases like Cancer and Alzheimer's. Seems rather antithetical to me. But if anyone knows where this concern comes from, please let us know so we...

Under the latest AMD drivers, there are 10 variants of that one device ID. AMD67DF.1 = "AMD Radeon (TM) RX 480" AMD67DF.2 = "AMD Radeon (TM) RX 470" AMD67DF.3 = "AMD Radeon (TM) RX 470" AMD67DF.4 = "Radeon (TM) RX 470 Series" AMD67DF.5 = "Radeon (TM) RX 4...

Re: How much data is stored on your Hard Drive?
People trying to fold on the ultra cheap often skip the hard drive and boot from a USB stick. And they've been doing that since the sticks were very small by today's standard.

Re: Suggestion to increase F@H members?
It's certainly a reasonable idea, but getting enough follow-through with volunteer efforts becomes a bit of a challenge. In the past, volunteers have been recruited to translate FAH"s web pages into their native language. Those volunteers seem to have abandoned their projects. It's hard to fin...

Google Translate is good enough to get the gist before someone with better skills comes along. Lightning for medicine Biologists, physicians and pharmacologists place high hopes on the X-ray laser. Re: [Linux Mint] Unable to add GPU slot
Optimus devices are known to be problematic when folding. I don't recall the details, but there are several threads here about the issue. Also don't know if they ever found a folding solution, but you can search the forum for the answer.

I realize it's one of those things where you don't really want to take people away from fixing the problem but, after eighteen hours of outage, I'm sure some sort of update or explanation would be appreciated by all of us. https://folding.stanford.edu/home/stats-system-down-temporarily/ Not so much...
