Re: What are the "canon" servers?
snip... Some files, such as GPUs.txt, hard-linked in a much-referenced thread this forum, were at fah-web.stanford ..., which seems to have been offline for a while now, precluding downloads needed for GPU configuration; snip Which much referenced thread? I don't have any problem getting the GPUs.t...

Re: IRC
There is a community here as well. Technical support by nature, but more than welcomed to participate here.
I guess we should ask why type you were looking for. Social community or technical community? As noted above, a blended community works for all, but favors none.

Or lack there of... as in my case. As with any tool, it has its uses. I never really considered whether my screw driver was more appealing than my hammer. ;) Free form communications doesn't appear to work well in a primarily support environment. Scrolling through 6 pages of the 2 AM debate on Star ...

QRB is exponential. With a fast enough GPU, you could earn Infinity Points™.

Re: bad team number
No probs will do the 500,000,000 for my team and call it a day. rules is rules and fair is fair I have always disagreed with this policy, but after they explained it, I can see where there are not any better options, so no way to improve the policy. 1. The researchers would spend a good amount of t...

Re: Retention of Folders
Hello Drift, welcome to the Folding Support Forum. Those numbers are in the thousands. 90+ thousand, not 90 million. Please remember, this is a research project. They don't have an advertising budget. One super bowl add would run the project for the next 10 years. It's all word of mouth, friend and ...

Re: why is folding client not part of major distro's?
Distros are an insecure form of distribution. FAH software is only available from one source, by design, to help keep the FAH software from getting hacked.

Re: Hospital labs & FAH
No prob. A quick review of the labs listed https://folding.stanford.edu/home/about-us/ does make it seem like they are mostly FAH alumni. But any institution at that level doing similar research would likely be welcomed. Any institutional reps reading this are more than welcome to contact Dr. Pande ...

TBH, I don't know of any drugs related to FAH results, yet. I think if there were, it would be well advertised already.Ricorocks wrote:Thanks Guys! Gleevec is a drug based on 'kinase' so perhaps this drug came about, with the help of FAH. I understand difficult to impossible for a direct link

Re: Hospital labs & FAH
Affiliates submit Projects, not cores. They load their simulations (Projects with 1000s of work units) to work servers within the FAH server network. Assignment servers at Stanford direct matching clients to those local or remotely located work servers. A few, or more better called several affiliate...

Google kinase based drug, or kinase inhibitor. The U of G will likely be more instructional. Unfortunately, this section of the forum is kind of a legacy feature. The researchers in the project used to spend more time here and answer a few questions like this from time to time. But they usually end ...

Re: CPU Priority and FAH interruptions
Technically speaking, it's not a full CPU core, but a full CPU thread. And while task manager shows a higher CPU load from the NV drivers, it's not actual CPU resources being used, but more like a polling thread that repeatedly checks to see if there is more video data to process, whether there is m...
